Latest News: KV331 Audio updates SynthMaster to v2.6.3

Hi Bülent,
User can change used insert effects (and their order) in "FX" -> "LAYER FX ROUTING" section, but SynthMaster always displays fixed insert FX order in layer diagram. Because in this case effects displayed in Layer diagram don't match with really used effects (or FX order), so it could puzzle user. What do you think about adding feature for displaying real fx chain in layer? For example, user change inserts on FX page, and when he back to Layer1 or Layer2, SynthMaster displays here changed (refreshed) fx chain in layer diagrams. Yes this is a GUI bug. Once I sort out the RTAS version I will fix this, promise ---- SynthMaster 2.6 VST/AU/RTAS "The Best Software Instrument of 2012" Award by MusicRadar CM Review: 10/10, Beat Review: 6/6 http://www.synthmaster.com/synthmaster.aspx |

Thanks Bülent BTW: I've still some casual idea for implementation FX to GUI. Some effects are configured in FX section (and routing), while some other effects are configured in FX tabs (FX1, FX2 and FX3) of Layer1 and Layer2. I'm pretty new user, but I think it could have legacy reason. Because I could assign distortion configured in Layer1 to Layer2, so current implementation of effects configuration in GUI seem to me inconsistent. Better solution will be placing all FX configurations in one location. By the other hand, SynthMaster effects have lot of settings and locating all effects in limited space of FX section will be very hard. Unfortunately, I haven't simple idea for solving this issue. Doubled effects e.g. Distortion could use solution you implemented in Compressor settings (buttons 1 and 2).

I found below quote in known CM review: Quote: Our only real complaints regarding the interface are that theinternal effects aren't all in one place and can be a little tedious to configure.

Yes, I read that as well. How about if we do an interface like Sylenth? Would that be good? ---- SynthMaster 2.6 VST/AU/RTAS "The Best Software Instrument of 2012" Award by MusicRadar CM Review: 10/10, Beat Review: 6/6 http://www.synthmaster.com/synthmaster.aspx |

This is radical change, so it's hard to say. Sylenth1 is different beast, so I can't imagine how you would like implement similar layout to SM... Generally, I like current SM GUI and I've already accustomed to it. However, I would like improve only two things: - Locate all effects in one place (written above). - A bit larger knobs. However, this is hard to implementation, because SM has lot of features, while GUI space is limited. By the other side, one, central multiview LCD display like in Sylenth or Nexus is flexible solution. Multiview LCD display allows on saving space and use bigger controls for important features, by moving others to display. Unfortunately, features moved to LCD are still hard to editing, especially when LCD is small. Maybe overall changing of layout is more consistent solution, but I devised some compromise idea.
You add multiview LCD display only to FX page (at the moment). "LCD" has two areas, that is menu/list with all effects (also effects moved from layers)on the right side and editing area with controls for currently edited fx (selected on menu/list). You keep current layout of routing settings (inserts, sends, global). Unfortunately, this solution doesn't allow on simultaneously viewing/editing several effects. I think this solution is very imperfect, but maybe it originate a fruitful discussion. Just been trawling through some of the older posts on here (things have been a bit quiet lately) and I think I saw a comment about possibly adding wavesequencing to SM?
Funnily enough, I've been playing around with my Korg Legacy Collection Wavestation recently and, although it is still a cracking synth, it is sounding a bit dated. Seems to me that SM's onboard fx, four flexible oscillators and xy pads would make it perfect to achieve Wavestation-style greatness but with the added ability to add your own waves and thus never go out of date. Anyway, I'd love to see wavesequencing added to SM at some point. |

Anyway, I'd love to see wavesequencing added to SM at some point. I did not read the whole topic to be honest, so I'm not sure what do you mean by wavesequencing. But Synthmaster has a WaveScanning oscillator which allows you to morph between 16 waveforms of your choice. You can even add your own custom waveforms, and of course controls can be modulated via the matrix. You can also check out Vector oscillator if you want to get closer to the Prophet VS, on which the original Wavestation was based on. There's the tutorial for the WaveScanning oscillator: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQ_DZ6wHdSE |

Yeah, I've used the wavescan osc but really thought of it as a wavetable rather than a wavesequencing option - maybe I should take another look at it. |

Yes, if you automate the 'wave' knob, you can insert some pretty cool movement into the sound. 16 custom waves per oscillator per voice. (4x16 waves) So, please check it out, and post some sound results if you can! |

Just had a quick look at the wavescan osc and it does seem that this is wavetable rather than wavesequencing. There is, for example, no obvious way of setting the precise duration of each step in the sequence? |
