Apple wrote:To achieve this transparency, you need tools and technologies from us to ensure delivery of the highest quality master recordings possible into our ecosystem.
What a piece of bollox. Couldn't bare to read that piece of iPropaganda any further.

There's an interesting article about this on Ars today:

Yep, that was an interesting article indeed! And it shows again that mastering engineers have the demand for a plugin that encodes and decodes in real-time. Shouldn't be too difficult, right??

Maybe I missed something, but I couldn't find anything that even a bedroom ME wouldn't already know. Don't clip the tracks? Don't reduce the bit depth/SR before submitting?

Looks like a PR stunt.

And suggesting that high bitrate AAC/MP3 alters the sound so much that you'd have to "compensate" for this with special sounding masters is just silly, IMO.
Audiophiles who are concerned so much about sound wouldn't buy music in lossy formats anyway.

Great, what's next, over-priced Mac only Chinese slave factory made Imonitors to mix on ? :hihi:

Dear Apple - Get down off the cross, and stop reinventing the wheel 10 years after someone else already did. And take your *shuffle* button with you, I'll keep my late 80's -randomize- one, thanks. /end rant ha-ha.
