Is creating a windows install wizard or Mac install package too much of a hassle?
I have to agree. The installation of these libraries is just too complicated. What is missing is a very detailed explanation of HOW to install them. The instructions we got leave out important details, and we should have a place to go ON THE KH SITE to get the correct, detailed explanation. Every other library I own installs flawlessly and I can get to work with them immediately. I have been trying since DECEMBER to get TVEC3 Concert strings working. Still don't have it. It just isn't right that I have to go sift through 3rd party forums to find out "I should have..." during the install. I asked Kirk for just such a page of simple install directions, but no response. I finally got Concert Brass installed and Diamond was never a problem, but CS2 is killing me. Went back to TVEC2 just to get some jobs done. They really are fine strings. No complaint there. |

I'm not a developer but I can't see how hard it could be to make a simple application, launched with one click, which looks at what a user has and lacks and installs the latter, overwriting as neccessary etc.
I appreciate the posts pointing us to good file directory comparsion utilities etc. which will make the job easier but should we really need to bother with that level of detail? I agree, the sounds are certainly there, but between the download, installation, updating, headscratching, and reliance on the goodwill of vounteer rescue workers, this has certainly turned out to be one very demanding purchase. It will be a couple of months before I can really explore everything in the 3 sets I got (CS, CB and Diamond), but I sure hope that by then there is something on the KHS site which makes it very easy to just get started with everything as it should be, because I dread having to wade through this 37 (and counting) page thread, (which I recall was created because the Group Buy thread was filling up with lots of user questions). Call me a scrooge, but having bought three major packages, and then getting two emails from KHS today pitching TVEC4, while KHS seems to be watching this thread only intermittently, letting some very basic questions from present customers just echo unanswered, leaves kind of a sour taste. |

I thought I would do a couple of quick mockups using just KHS CONCERT STRINGS 2. They are just quick hard mixes, with little editing and no post processing whatsoever. The reverb is the KHS HALL 1 convolution.
I was impressed with the KHS string sounds on these two contrasting pieces. (The solo vln and viola, not so much. I think they could be made to sound less synthy, because I've never used them before.) Anyway, got them done and thought some of you on the thread might be interested. ... or not. Great sounding strings though. Good value...but ZERO support. Wafting through 6 million pages to find an answer is NOT support. Sorry I'm here. I haven't disappeared. I've actually been watching this thread for the past several weeks and sending Kirk emails on issues folks have raised w/my recommendations. Be aware that my consulting engagement with Kirk Hunter Studios was for specifically for planning and implementing the Group Buy and ended in January 2012. Unfortunately, I'm no KONTAKT guru, nor am I a Kirk Hunter Studios representative. Even more, I have yet to receive my own KHS libraries (I'm still running a pre-production version of Pop/Rock Strings), so I would be of little help on a peer to peer support level. That said, I do my best to help where I can and I just got off the phone with Kirk in order to ask him some of the major questions that have been posted in this thread. I'm happy to report that Kirk assured me that existing issues/bugs will be addressed and WILL NOT require customers to purchase TVEC 4 or any other form of paid update. Let me say that again to make sure its perfectly clear: Kirk has assured me that the TVEC 4 update is all about new functionality and has nothing to do with addressing any issues/bugs. Any existing issues/bugs will be addressed as FREE updates for customers whether or not they purchase TVEC 4. Kirk also answered another question raised in this thread: customers who own multiple KHS libraries will indeed receive a discount for multiple TVEC 4 purchases. Kirk assured me that he will be posting in this thread shortly (probably tomorrow) to provide further details and address other questions recently raised in this thread. He also asked me to post that anyone who believes they have encountered a bug please send him an email with the issue and your system info. Last, it's just my suggestion as a fellow sample user, not something from Kirk, but I think it would be very useful if someone could compile a list of issues/bugs reported in this thread by multiple users, so that these can be addressed in a prioritized manner. - Peter |

I've tried batch resave to ease loading times...nope! it won't work..error patch encrypted! What a ball ache. Batch save works on other libs. God only knows its something to do with VERY VERY bad file structures.. Its a JOKE!!! Last but not least...What the hell is this "SCRIPT WARNING? Wrong group index in allow_group!" Does anyone speak english? Can someone not create an exe file to sort this terrible awful mess. Sorry i'm dreaming. TVEC4??? Yeah right!! hahaha Great sense of humour you have..its alright Kirk, keep the money and the change. I'll live. I will learn from these mistakes..NEXT time. anyone else noticed the Pluggers have all but disappeared?? Wafting through 6 million pages to find an answer is NOT support. Sorry Batch Resave: Some of the "marker" files were created with a different app that caused this. It was not that I didn't want you to be able to batch resave. I just never figured why you would want to. If you want to batch resave, then just delete all the "marker" files. For example, in CS 2 violins, you have the following directory: a 16,8,4,1 Players .nki b 1st Violins 16,8,4,1 Players All Articulations.nki b 2nd Violins 16,8,4,1 Players All Articulations.nki c 16 Players - WHOLE .nki d 1st Violins 16 Players All Articulations.nki d 2nd Violins 16 Players All Articulations.nki e 8 Players - HALF .nki f 1st Violins 8 Players All Articulations.nki f 2nd Violins 8 Players All Articulations.nki g 4 Players - QUARTER .nki h 1st Violins 4 Players All Articulations.nki h 2nd Violins 4 Players All Articulations.nki i 1 Player - SOLO .nki j 1st Violin Solo All Articulations.nki j 2nd Violin Solo All Articulations.nki Delete the following: a 16,8,4,1 Players .nki c 16 Players - WHOLE .nki e 8 Players - HALF .nki g 4 Players - QUARTER .nki i 1 Player - SOLO .nki In the meantime, I'll redo the instruments so as to remove any error issues that should arise. Script Warning: Don't worry about the script warning. I know about it, and have tried to debug, but can't find the line of issue. But as far as I can tell, it is not causing any issues. It's likely that somewhere in the code, there was a wrong number of groups counter created. Luckily, Kontakt automatically strips out excess counter numbers, but still warns of the issue. Again, this should not pose any issues. |

Just wanted everyone to know a few things:
First, the support thread was supposed to auto-alert me via my email as to whenever anyone posts. I guess something was wrong because I never got any notifications. Luckily, eDrummist called me to tell me what's going on. So at this point, if you were one who had specific issues then can you please re-post or send me your issue directly to kirkhunterstudios@gmail.com? That was, I can more quickly address your issues rather that sift through the stuff that's already been posted. Secondly, TVEC 4 is not a bug fix. It's a HUGE additions of features to TVEC 3. Thirdly, the development of TVEC 4 has been quite time-consuming. So that's what's been keeping me so busy. But even so, had this thread been alerting me, I would still address all issues. If you recall in years past (for those of you who remember) I've always been very attentive where issues are conceerned. |

I've looked into that, but for downloadable software that has so many very large .zip files, seems a big challenge for "wizard" type of installers. |

Is there anybody out there? lingyai wrote: Again... are the January patches cumulative, or must the December ones also be applied? HELLO-O!!! An easy question like that and... SILENCE? Excuse me fellows, but it's embarrassing already. A bit of attention here would be good. All updates and fixes that are available are indeed cumulative. If not, it will say so....something like "You will need to have already installed...." etc. Also, all updates and fixes are installed into the downloads so that those who purchase after such fixes and updates don't have to worry. |

Why can't i use this frickin function? How do i activate it..arghhh!!! Thanks for your time.
DivisiLIve is only greyed out if the feature does not make sense to use...for example if you've loaded only the "whole" divisions. So if you could tell me exactly which instrument you're using that has the problem. Just give me the exact name, and I'll figure it out. |

In the DiaSoloBrassAFix .zip file, these two files are not updated: ...\71_Solo_Trumpet_a\Solo_Trumpet_A_Instruments\02_Trumpet_ staccato.nki ...\73_Solo_Trombone_a\Solo_Trombone_A_Instruments\02_Trombo ne_staccato.nki They are dated September 2008, same as the ones they replace. I'll be looking into the fixes for the additional Diamond brass solos. |

Good point. In the future, I'll mass email when fixes or updates come up. |
