If you recall in years past (for those of you who remember) I've always been very attentive where issues are conceerned.
Hi Kirk, good to see you here. I just want to re-report some issues:
1. Diamond Solo Brass B instruments (trumpet b, trombone b, french horn b) and the tuba did not yet get the intervalive bug fix.
2. In some woodwind instruments there seem trumpets sounds included (and audible). This is most prominent with the English Horn (but also the clarinet and the bassoon). (please, listen to the example I posted)
3. For some strange reason, tvec 3 seems to affect the sound of the woodwinds in a negative way. tvec1/vpro-versions imo sounded much better (please, listen to the example I posted earlier). Maybe, the sound quality of the original patches can be restored in tvec3.

cheers, akj

I have noticed in my TVEC3 instruments (Diamond, CS2 and CS3) that I get a pop or click sound when both 1) a note is sustained 2) I either keyswitch or mouse switch between articulations.

* This click does not occur when switching / keyswitch if no note is playing. The click only occurs when a note is playing during an articulation switch.
* In some instruments, the click occurs when playing a sustained sound (smooth or adagio) and switching to a sound that contains one of the short attack samples(Accent PP, Accent MF, Accent FF, Short). In other instances, click occur on all articulation switching.
* Other non-articulation switch in TVEC3 doesn't cause this problem.
* This click does not occur when doing similar switching in TVEC2 versions on my system.

Has anyone else experienced this popping? I have the latest full version of Kontakt 4 installed for PC Windows w/ 2GB RAM.

Thanks in advance! I absolutely LOVE the sound of these libraries!!!!!!!

EDIT 2/7/12:
Kirk tested this and followed up directly with me. This appears to most likely be a limitation of my older setup. As of this post I have not heard of anyone else having this issue.
I've tried very hard to duplicate this issue, and just can't seem to do it. Another customer emailed me with this issue as well, and eventually found it to be something with his DAW settings. I was never told exactly what it was tho. So here's a video of me trying to duplicate the issue, to no avail. (The vid shows TVEC 4, but the programming for keyswitching or changing articulations/features is the same as TVEC 3.)

AKJ wrote:you can find some examples of the Diamond English Horn here (I just created a very simple midi file, not using any keyswitches; included reverb was deactivated with all examples, I used a convolution reverb vst instead):

http://www.power-xs.net/download/eh_vpro.mp3

(This is the original version included in Diamond, and it sounds imo quite good. I just loaded the patch as it comes, no settings tweaked)

http://www.power-xs.net/download/eh_tve ... ive_on.mp3

(In this example I loaded the tvec3 version of the English Horn. I can here a glitch which is most likely created by intervalive)

http://www.power-xs.net/download/eh_tve ... ve_off.mp3

(Here, I deactovated intervalive and the glitch was gone. But soundwise in comparison to the vpro-version imo: night and day. the clear winner is the original patch)

http://www.power-xs.net/download/eh_tve ... e_off2.mp3

(Here I tried if I could achieve by tweaking the tvec3-patch the same sound as in the vpro-example - but failed)

I really wonder how much better the original patch sounds. Maybe, I am doing something wrong, but it seems that (at least out of the box) tvec3 is not always good. So it's great that we also have the original patches.

cheers, akj
I'll look into that. They should SOUND exactly the same. Maybe I left some filter on that was not in the older version.

Thanks for all your responses. Point taken by the way re the failure of the thread's autonotfier.

I am glad you're on all these things. For me, perpaps the most useful thing you could do, alongside bug-checking/fixing etc, would be to create a sticky at the start of this thread -- updated as need be -- which gives anyone who owns a given package a checklist of things he or she needs to do get things as they should be, as well as a list of some outstanding issues. Such a sticky, which brings together everything in one place and has your authorative stamp, would be far preferable to having 3rd party advice (which is appreciated, but is not always authoatative) scattered over this very long thread.

Batch Resave:
Some of the "marker" files were created with a different app that caused this. It was not that I didn't want you to be able to batch resave. I just never figured why you would want to.
Thanks for your help!
I was under the impression that it loads the instruments quicker??

Not really. The only thing that I am aware of that makes loading faster is for the samples to be compressed in ncw format.

Here's another quick demo, this time the Concert Brass 2.
I've had a lot of plays of the string demos in just a couple of days, so here's another one, brass only. Limited myself to two hours from start to finish. Needs some dynamic editing, but the sound is pretty solid overall.

Again, these are the sounds out of the box. No processing, other than the default reverb, First Reflection vol 5.

I noticed this as well and mentioned it earlier in this thread.

I forget if it applies to other instruments as well, but the woodwinds are much better in the original versions. The TVEC 3 versions are not sounding very good and I don't use them, preferring the originals.

For those of you who haven't visited the KHS website recently, you may be surprised to find some contemporary art by Kirk now listed on a section of the site. He paints and does kinetic sculpture as well. I personally find the art beautiful, striking and engaging, but them I happen to be a fan of abstract art.

Congratulations, Kirk! ... man of many talents.

aw p'shaw

FYI, I'm still working on the fixes for the other Diamond IntervaLive issues.

Also, I've implemented a new Global Preset page for TVEC 4 so that you can save and load PatterMaker and MicroTuner presets across to any other TVEC 4-enabled instrument.

Concert Strings 2 TVEC3 Installation

I am still looking for a definitive detailed list of steps to get the install correct. Mine is still not working, so I am hoping somebody can add to this and help those of us still struggling with missing samples, wrong GUI, etc. This is to get the ball rolling.

This is everything I know about installing CS2 with TVEC3:

1. Download the free 7-Zip at http://www.7-zip.org (to unzip the files)

2. Download the CS2 sample files and the TVEC 3 Instruments file to your Main Concert Strings 2 folder, in zip file format

3. Right click on each Zip file and choose 7-zip/EXTRACT HERE.
This will extract all the files into your original downloaded folder.
It is important to use this method to keep your folder structure intact.
Remove/copy your original zip files from the folder and store them in a safe place, ideally on an external drive for back-up.

4. Unzip the _tvec3_ folder and you will have this folder: 00_TVEC3_instruments, which holds the following:

_pictures
01, 02, 03, 04 and 05 instrument files
06_documentation
07_KH Impulses

5. Each of the files in the _pictures folder should be copied to the following folder, so Kontakt can access them for the GUI:
USER/DOCUMENTS/NATIVE INSTRUMENTS/KONTAKT 5/PICTURES
Do not drag the whole folder. The individual image and text files need to be copied here.

6. Make sure this _TVEC3.1_Instruments folder is in your Concert 2 main folder, where all of the samples have been unzipped. This main folder should contain:
_TVEC3.1_instruments
KH Impulses
Documentation
Wallpaper
24 folders of samples:
Vln1, Vln2, Vla, Cello, Bass and Combination sample folders, 4 of each.

7. In Kontakt, point the data search to the Main CS2 Folder. Done.

What am I missing here? This is what my current setup is. But I still have problems with thousands of missing samples. My GUI is still the old silver TVEC2 interface. The GUI for my Concert Brass is the new one. Are we supposed to have it for the strings?

There is a warning in the thread about ending up with TWO _TVEC3.1_Instruments folders, which apparently causes missing samples??? Also some people ended up with too many underscores ___ in folder names. I can't address those.

Please feel free to jump in and correct/clarify this set of steps. Thanks
