Just interested in opinions.
At the moment, I have a fairly nice home built spec with a EMU 1820 soundcard. Some dcent monitors, connected up with a old dodgy stereo amp. (dodgy inso much that the it mostly works, but the headphones, don't mute the thing and the speaker switch doesn't work (it can run tw sets of speakers, so I used to run some normal speakers and my monitors so I could compare).
Just would like to know what people are using to power their passive monitors.

Last time I was shopping for a regular hifi amp (couple of years ago when my 1989 Sony amp had died) I ended up with a Marantz PM4000. Not too expensive, plenty inputs, good quality. Haven't let me down yet, as you'd expect.

I'm using an Arcam A85 with Bowers and Wilkins 403 monitors. Seen it going for £300 which is a mega bargin.

Sorry for the OT, but what motherboard and operating system are you using with the EMU 1820?
I'd like to get a little more life out of mine if possible. thanks.
