i've published the first part of what will be the Commodore 64 Synthesizer Sessions series. three more sample packs will follow in the next couple of weeks and all will be available for free download.

my intention for this project is to capture some legendary C64 videogame sounds, as well as some classic analog sounds you probably wouldn't expect to hear coming from a Commodore 64.

all the sounds in the first pack were generated by a SID 8580 (recorded from my C64 running the MSSIAH Mono Synthesizer application). the pack comes with three different sounds: Legend Of SID, Dungeon Of SID, and Rainy Metropolis.

Legend Of SID - classic SID lead sound.
Dungeon Of SID - tweaked for lower octaves.
Rainy Metropolis - you all know the movie.

the pack includes Shortcircuit 1 and Kontakt 5 patches.

btw, i'm open for critique, opinions, and suggestions about this first pack. anyone having fun with it? any problems found? also taking requests for sounds in the three upcoming packs.

any sort of comments are welcome really, i was real happy to finally start making and releasing these samples.

this first pack is just a small taste of what will follow, i'm planning to go more into detail and build more complex sets for the future three releases (ie. capturing the SID filter cutoff for different velocities, etc.).

yeah the NKIs are K5 only, unfortunately.

but i've also included Shortcircuit 1 patches, it's a freeware sampler and it's very good.

if you decide to get the WAVs anyway, it shouldn't be too much trouble since they're saved with loop points.

I pulled the Kontakt set and will play with the samples in that. Like I said I have Kontakt just have whatever the latest is in version 4 I will upgrade eventually.

oh yes, i love that stuff!

i will also include some cool sounding sid stuff/loops in my next sample pack....
