I never knew it would do that. I always just opened it and built whatever "rig" I wanted to use.

How much easier could preset browsing get?

For me, at least, the answer is, to paraphrase Nigel Tufnel, none...none more easy.

I do hope that this update was something directly derived from listening to customers, and yet it took a while but it is here and kicks butt IMO.

It is very difficult to find what exactly to implement amongst many suggestions but rest assured we do listen to customers, even the ones that call us and much of what we've chosen do stupid.

(sorry inside joke) honestly my point was about layering and if I only had AT3 then I might use many instances. Perhaps I should have said I would not have that many instances of any one amp sim to be more accurate. But in all honesty I tend to have the leading tone be a real tube amp into an iso and generally copy my dry track and run two of one sim (or amp) set up the same and set very low in the mix. I do not hard pan them but I use samplitude's 2channel surround to act as side fill from each side, then I send both to a bus often with the highs damped and a little reverb. If I have two guitar parts I'll use entirely different set-ups on each guitar (and different guitars), AT is simply not my only option nor is any of my options better than the other....next year I imagine I'll have multiplied my options several times again. Too much more on one track though might lead to a total brain overload and meltdown trying to keep it all straight

I'm afraid when it comes to bass I'm very old school and fairly boring, I like it clean and Samplitude has plenty of tools to handle the job

no, it's because I just went out and got a beast for a new DAW JUST so I could run AT better and then you change it to lower cpu usage...you're working with pc audiolabs to sell machines...I know because my machine came loaded with AT3 (to be fair GR4 too but as you know I already have both)...so yeah, I know what your little game is

Yes we do like PC Audiolabs and they like us. We're also happy that Orange likes us enough to have us do the official models AND have AmpliTube the amp sim on their OPC recording computer. I didn't break this out when we were taking latency, but this speed record was broken (again) using AmpliTube on the OPC:

you know I was joking about improving cpu usage now right? But yeah the PC Audiolab 10 year anniversary bundle had IK stuff and NI stuff (Cakewalk and vieklang too), I really did not expect to re-install GR4 but it authorized when I authorized B4II. I figure between Ampitube and Samplitude I have the in the box solutions covered quite nicely. TBH I have not tried playing direct into AT yet and have not downloaded the update yet but that's only because of the problems I had with Yellow Tools consuming my time. I did have one song that had AT set up like I described but had not authorize AT yet and the white noise bursts caught me off guard...too many things to think about when you get a new machine and update your host and my mind is too quick to think "I knew something else would go wrong"

tbh I didn't even watch the video until just now (interesting to say the least), I can only tell you if latency is there for me or not. Like I have said in the past you can't actually hear the latency that concerns me and tbh it's rare I use this method. If I'm layering tracks with any ITB solution (or if I'm a dumbass and am using a live input like an amp or similar and I leave the track monitor on in Samp) I'll get a comb filtering effect that I find undesirable and it really cannot be helped because comb filtering begins at such tiny amounts of delay (or latency) no one will ever hear it except in that one use.

My original post (which obviously has been taken wrong even as clear as I made it) was responding to someone who was putting someone else down for using many instances of AT and I was sticking up for the other guy saying that there is nothing wrong with layering tracks. Unfortunately I guess I forgot that when it comes to amps and guitars I need to ask permission what threads to post in. Even having paid and admiring AT (not from you Peter) it seems this issue is most prevalent in AT threads. If I offer my perspective on another approach as to how to best use AT for me (and I even go as far as stating I dont expect others to do the same)...in comes the same old thing. But I dont care one single bit because my perspective is valid and may inspire others.

Apparently someone else has decided for me that I dont like AT and without consulting me first, funny once again in my post I made it clear that none of my options are better than the others. This only happens in AT threads though and it's not from IK dudes like yourself. If I didn't like AT it would be sitting in the box with GTR and a whole lot of other software I never use. Every time I get a new machine I seem to install less and less and keep what I like the best...so whoever has decided that I dislike AT is just plain wrong...but you know that.

The bottom line is when I'm tracking I really want to be playing through what makes me the most comfortable even if there is no real reason other than that's how I like it. When I put my mixing cap on what I recorded with might not be the best choice, maybe it will need a little help...just like my original post was about...layering.

Custom Shop rules IMO. I know someone was making the point that you can get by using an amp sim with just a few amp types, & you probably can. But the amount of choice available in the custom shop now is amazing. Stand-out amps for me like CLEAN: Fender Twin Reverb, Jazz Amp-120, Metal Clean T Crunch/Hi Gain: Soldano, German Gain, Fender Super Sonic, Metal Lead V, Orange Thunderverb 200. All these Amps within Amplitube have their very own character & something really unique to each amp & IMO would take quite a bit of tweaking to clone what's going on in these amps. So its really nice to just have these amp types right there instead of having to spend ages sculpting the sound yourself.

Also thanks to the Custom shop I think I've found my absolute favourite Amp, the mighty Thunderverb 200 I just love the sound of this amp both the clean & the hi gain channels. The tones you can get in the Hi gain channel with just one shape knob are brilliant. Unfortunately I cant afford the real thing but I am going to get the TH30 head & cab, when I scrape enough cash together. So I love the sound of the Thunderverb (= I'm happy) I buy it from the custom shop (= IK is happy) & eventually I'm gonna purchase the Orange TH30 head & cab (= Orange is happy) So now we're all happy

Anyone have or had a chance to play through the Orange Th30?
