How does it compare to the good free stuff like Bootsy's reverb pluggy?
How does it compare to the high end stuff like Arts Acoustic?
What about Vahalla?
I'd love to try the Vahalla stuff, but the free Freqdelay crashed my FLStudio, so I'm not clear on that.
I certainly like the pricing. All the AD stuff looks well designed and I like the audio demos.

EOS is pretty special - but it's not nearly as versatile as the AA or Valhalla VRoom, which runs just fine inside FLS - both the 32 and 64 bit editions. EOS is much lighter and more shimmery compared to Bootsy's earthy plasti verb. The EOS plate is killer in the right place - very unique. If I had to pick just one, it would be VRoom (it's a stunning bargain), but I don't. Hope you don't have to either.

I tend to push pluggys very hard, and I may have caused the crash myself. It was also the very first release, so who's to say?

Post

Worth pushing a demo of VRoom to find out.

Yeah, I know it's important to demo. I can demo synths on the laptop, but I hate installing demos on the music pc, because so many leave behind all kinds of crap.

Ask Sean for a zip file, rather than the installer he slaved for weeks over.

That's another thing Vahalla has going for it. Sean always around here, and seems more than helpful. That's a big plus to me.

I remember seeing in the EOS about box, that something about the algorithm is by Valhalla? Something like that?... EOS is a great sound, I couldn't say my go-to verb for all styles, but I like the density about it. I've never used it on vocals for some reason, but I use it in one of my live sets, for ambient electronic... the superhall algorithm is superb, but I generally use the stereo plate as I am addicted to plate verbs :p

EOS is obviously not as versitile as ArtsAcoustic, but I would say just as indispensible. One thing I find about EOS is that the colour can be just too much to send too many things to it simultaneously, but the tail just sounds so lush that I can't help myself from washing everything out :p

the EMT140 by UAD is a premium plate, which is my other fave, but EOS has such a luch sound, the 2 of them do things that the other can't. f**k i love plate verbs.

I forgot I had Predator which can be used as an Fx insert and it has a very nice reverb (as well as other fx) on it. You have to tweak it and set the time at 200% to get a good tail, but it sounds good.

One of the few. I can't get audio routed into FM8. I really wish you could route audio through Massive or Albino. (or Nexus)

I have never understood the lovefest surrounding EOS. I have a number of reverbs, both free and paid. I got EOS based mostly on the great word of mouth, and figured I could tweak it into some useful sound.

Unfortunately, I have never been able to get anything approaching useful out of it. Everything sounds metallic to me, with a bunch of unwanted frequencies in the upper range. I prefer smooth sounding 'verbs, and they shouldn't have artifacts.

Many of the free available reverbs sound superior IMHO. I have also been able to pull down some great Reaktor reverbs from the NI site.

I've written the same criticism of EOS on several threads, and every time I do, people seem to agree with me about the sound (even EOS enthusiasts) but say that it's a matter of taste. That may be, but I don't really see anyone else giving an honest assessment of what it really sounds like.

YMMV of course.

Just for balance, I don't agree with you. I think it sounds great, wonderful interface too (just makes sense to me).

Noted. What I meant to convey is that SOME people seem to agree with me, not ALL.

I am with BERFAB. (mostly)

Bought EOS spontaneously after reading all the positive opinions. Had it for a year or so, then sold it on.

It wasn't "bad" as such, I actually quite liked it. But that's the point, I only quite liked it, I never loved it, never got much use out of it.
Loaded it into a send in every project I can remember, but always swapped it against something else in the end.

It does have a kind of "metal" ring to it, that makes it a little harsh and cold, but that's not always a bad thing.
But for my requirements, the free TAL Reverbs strike me as being much smoother and having more depth, I use them a lot more.

Kept ADverb, though.
Not the best one I've heard, but not a waste of money either.

You should do a lot of demoing, AudioDeluxe are having a Reverb special with 15% off a lot of high quality Reverbs.
Can't decide whether I'm gonna get me the Eventide or that juicy Lexicon MPX...

I wasn't trying to be an ass there, obviously you didn't mean everyone, I just wanted to post an alternative opinion.

Thing is, although maybe everyone was positive about it when it came out, now not so. Personally I think it's as good as when it came out. Just me I guess.
