What's NOT too subjective for accurate polling? Maybe I shouldn't have used a poll at all, they are pretty pointless really but just to get a concise number in the thread (especially if there are a lot of replies) polls are helpful, if not scientific.CTStump wrote:I figured I'd get a rise out of it being as you started this thread, just didn't figure you would be so quick.braj wrote: I think your subjective, slanted opinions are showing actually, this poll is 'pompous'? geez! I have no agenda here, I was simply wondering. I don't think Reaper is the best DAW or anything like that, it was what I could afford to be honest, I'd have stuck with Live if it was worth it to upgrade. BTW no one is objective, we all deal with everything from a subjective perspective. We have no other option really![]()
Once again Too subjective for any accurate polling my friend ( pssst....just teasing all the Reaper fans out there... don't tell anybody).
Most CPU efficient host?

Yeah, you know if you wanna go there polls are pretty flacking subjective
So what, the op wants a little info, that is what the forum is for.
BTW, anyone who thought I was being serious about switching to S2 instead of reaper just got PUNKED! (though I expect most people knew I was full of shit

Alright you got my opinion, I'm not so important that you need to explain yourself and I agree this makes an interesting side note however, and that's a big However, your going to have people who are not satisfied with the results and in turn will show their displeasure in the form of flame wars. Granted I like the entertainment value of these exchanges but the banner waving gets unnerving and repetitious. It's April fool's day so don't take anything I've said in this thread seriously in the true spirit of the holiday ( it was more to get hibidy's goat, look's like I accomplished that.braj wrote: What's NOT too subjective for accurate polling? DAWs are tools, not religions
I figure everyone has good reasons for using what they use, I didn't intend to start a flame war but not posting out of fear that may occur seems like giving in to the terrorists

not on the list of course...but simply because of the hybrid engine I think the answer is Samplitude

Honestly I really didn't know Reaper was considered to be so efficient. I was asked by the Spectrasonics rep when I asked if my machine would run Trilian what host I used, I told him 'Reaper' and he told me it was very efficient. All I really knew is it was very cheap, and had the features I needed, and was better on the CPU than Live from my experience. I am not a Reaper fanboy and have no desire to sell copies of Reaper, unless they choose to pay me for being a sales repLawrenceF wrote:I knew when I first saw the thread title the OP was a Reaper user... no surprise there.
Anyway, agree... it's very cpu efficient. Props.

What is it about the hybrid engine, I know very little about Samplitude other than it is out of my price rangeHink wrote:not on the list of course...but simply because of the hybrid engine I think the answer is Samplitude

It's Hinkified, funkified and southernfried. What more could you ask?braj wrote: What is it about the hybrid engine, I know very little about Samplitude other than it is out of my price range

Well, I can tell you that Live (my primary DAW) definitely is not the most CPU efficient. I guess I could make the argument that PTHD could be considerd very CPU efficient (since it uses DSPs for it's mixer and effects) but in native form, it's not all that great. Though, the disk round-robin feature makes it very efficient from streaming audio from disk.
Of the DAWs I've used I'd say Reaper is easiest on CPU. It also seems to report CPU use the most accurately. I haven't used them all though.

I was wondering about that for DAWs in general, what are the options for off-loading plugins for Live or (dare I ask) Reaper? I don't know much about that.justin3am wrote:since it uses DSPs for it's mixer and effects
