I've seen versions of this. I think one was called 'Earache My Eye' in fact.

But, yeah, I think it could have been staged but even so, the idea that someone could go ballistic like that has occured.

My own parents were a little like that, up to a point, but it was more along the idea of getting a job that paid regularly was their issue more. My mother had depression a fair bit of the time so we tended to be more quiet..acoustic guitars or stuff like that were played at our home...sax? uh uh, violin? Nope. Trumpet? Are you kidding me? No way....

When I was that guy's age in the early 90's I was into Thrash/Death metal and a guitarist too. Now that I'm almost 40 I can understand both sides of the discussion. It's time for him to move out or at the very least switch to headphones. HiHi

I often think of how much smoother my teen life would have gone if such an option was available to me. I basically lived with a non ending litany of "TURN DOWN THAT CRAP!" Ah, to be young in the age of the iPhone...

If he has a full time job or goes to school and plays guitar in his free time, that's fair enough, but, if all he does is plays guitar and nothing else, that's not too good sorry. Maybe he does work though? how did he get such flash gear?

I know, my point exactly, If his mom (weird, we spell it more correctly "mum" where I come from Razz) buys this stuff for him, then turns around and goes off at him for making use of it, that's pretty s**ty, but, if he's working (even part time) and saving for it, then good on him.

On another note, where I come from even cover bands can make good money Shrug, hell, last year while I was studying I could make $50 an hour busking, there's money in music so long as you're disciplined enough to practice to the point where you're good and confident enough to get out and do it... his mom just needs to get laid I think HiHi

It kinda reminded me of this, but unlike the OP's video, the mom is more concerned than anything else.

Anyone who remotely understands the mother's point of view should be ashamed of themselves. This kid seriously needs to get out of that toxic environment. Unfortunately he'll spend most of his life trying to rebuild the self-confidence his mother has taken from him.

Just what I was thinking SAW75, went through exactely the same thing with my parents and was shocked when I heard her rant...

I do agree though that noise levels should be controlled so as not to disturb other people.

It looks like the kid is like 18.

I've written things, staged them, filmed them. No. I listened closely, now. You'd have to be a pro to write dialogue that authentic. It's not a cut-and-dried speech. It's hard to write like a person talks in real life. In fact most writing doesn't achieve that, but is clearer, an artifice to stand in for reality.

or he gives her an outline and she improvises? In one take, master shot (no edits). No.
Unless she is a seasoned profesional actor and he's a seasoned playwright, no way in hell this was faked.

No I don't think it's faked either.

It's sad, to be up against that kind of negativity.

I think there's essentially two types of peoplem, creative and non. The creative people see the non-cre's as working in boring, mind numbing jobs whereas the non-cre's see others endeavours as pointless.

When they clash it's a no-win situation.

I used it as impetus to play harder/better. My Dad wouldn't let me even bring an acoustic into the house. As a result on any given night if I wasn't jamming with someone else at their place or working I'd be in the garage woodshedding.

I think it was, but I'm only basing it on my gut feeling when I heard it Shrug

there's another one - this time we get to see mom Shit!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mgAJ1plDUo&feature=youtu.be

I watched some of his other videos and, as some of the sensible comments there point out, he has talent and potential and is able to teach and inform on technique. One wonders what Mom's yardstick for contributing to society is - I suspect the frustration and anger comes from within...
