Anyone know the cost of up-grade from Live Lite to full version?
Thanks again,
Glynn

I got Live Lite 8 with my MIDI keyboard, but I have deleted it after some tests.
Only 8 audio tracks plus 8 MIDI tracks (means max. 16 tracks) and only 6 audio FX per project.
That's nothing I can make dance music with. Maybe for a indie rock band with guitar, drums and vocals it's enough...
But for beginners I can recommend it, especially if you want to upgrade to Live 8. Although for real beginners I rather would recommend MULAB.

I currently use Geist and Sylenth for my music, and no audio tracks.
Can I ask:-
1 Would i still have to use Geist for my drum sequencing, or is there anything in Live Lite?
2 If there is no drum rack, and I use one track for Geist, does that mean I can use 7 Sylenth sounds?
Thanks in advance
Glynn

And then you can open another project, make 8 MIDI tracks and bounce them to audio and use it in the other 8 audio tracks...

I'm using Reaper, but I'm having issues with some parts of it, and so I've been trying other DAWs. I was just trying to figure out how I might get my hands on a copy of Ableton Live Lite, or whether I had some on a disk that came with a sound card long ago, or what... and then this comes up. Most excellent!
I am, however, having a problem. When certain Live Sets load (e.g., "What's New In Live 8"), suddenly I've got a message at the bottom saying that saving and exporting are disabled because my copy is not authorized. I've authorized the darn thing three times today, including the offline method (which I shouldn't have had to do because it was frickin' online but at least that made it easier to get the authorization file), but it keeps coming back. Qua?

Im guessing that those live sets contain instruments/effects/amounts of tracks, that you cant use in live lite. So it kicks you into demo mode so you can use them at that pointfilkertom wrote:I'm using Reaper, but I'm having issues with some parts of it, and so I've been trying other DAWs. I thought that might be the case -- it makes sense, and it lets me save under other circumstances. I'd rather it said that I can't do anything with this particular set, though, y'know? Rather than telling me that I have to authorize the software that I've already authorized multiple times. It's just confusing. Anyway, thanks for the insight!ezelkow1 wrote:Im guessing that those live sets contain instruments/effects/amounts of tracks, that you cant use in live lite. just got the email. I have really been wanting to try this out, but haven't bothered buying it from the marketplace when it pops up (for some reason I find it insulting when people sell free software for $30). I have friends who use Ableton a lot and swear by it, and wanted to find out what all the fuss is about, great promotion.

Could you just expand on your last paragraph. Do you mean I could use the 8 midi tracks of the second project in the first project. If so, how would I do that.
Also, is there a drum rack in Live Lite?
Thanks again,
Glynn
