So here's the thing: a friend of mine wrote a book and he's publishing it on Facebook serially (two chapters/week). I promised him that I'd write a track for the book "soundtrack" each week and that it'd be done by Thursday morning. I had been doing just fine until this week - I wrote a bossa nova-esque track for tomorrow but I got some (ahem) SUPER-honest feedback about my vocals a couple of hours ago and it shook me to the core to be honest. Here is the track with the vocals: http://soundcloud.com/electric-sound-continuum/rethymno-via- rio-full And this is the instrumental: http://soundcloud.com/electric-sound-continuum/rethymno-via- rio-instrumental So the help I need is this: can anyone help me by recording something vocal-ish over the track with the same melody as my lead vocals? I don't care about lyrics (though they are welcome if you can think of anything)- whistling, ad-libbing, aaaah-ing and oooh-ing- anything will do. Or maybe you can even play the melody on a nylon string guitar or something - so not even vocalish, improvise. Here's the hard part: it has to be done in the next 12 hours !!! If anyone can help me I'd be really really extra super eternally grateful. |

Hey , the vocal doesn't suck .The opening phrase or two though are weak and first impressions count and all that.
As the tune progresses the singing is more than passable and even pleasant.Could be better sung by someone else but if you can't find someone to help u I would sing the opening two lines again if I were you.Mix the vocals a higher too? I just read in the Music Cafe forum that Dimitar is offering to play guitar solos.Could be a very good alternative for you. All the best. Hey, thanks! Yeah, those two opening lines are the ones that have me really cringing. |

It's not always in tune, but it has it's charm, it's definitely not super sucking vocal, it actually fits the lo-fi feeling of the track imho. I can listen to it as it is so to speak ---- Developers! Developers! Your plug-ins should be circuit modeled!!! It's the shizzz! Also don't forget oversampling & 0dfb filters! |

If you're still not happy with your vocal chops, try using an instrument in place of your voice for the melody.
With the bossa nova groove, the flute you use later or nylon string guitar would fit great! Marimba too... I'm assuming the female vocal is a sample, but if you have more, they could fill out the track too! Deadlines, the mother of creativity! KVR/eSOundz: Xenobt |

Well, you know, the actual quote was "I couldn't make it to the end of the track because of the awfulness of your vocals" |

KVR/eSOundz: Xenobt Hehe, I don't want to fill it out with samples TBH. I try to use them sparingly. The female vocal is indeed a sample from Vocal Forge. I wish I could have that singer try out the song. REMINDER: if anyone wants to do something there are still ten hours left! Come on, that's all the time in the world! |

If I were you, I would look for a good female singer. I think there are surely some good singers in Greece...especially in these difficult economic times...
For example, you could make a project at digitalmusician.net and find some singer...online, from the whole world, maybe even from Brasilia... |

How about deploying a vocoder? I think it'd sound cool with the material. Get some nice robo-elevator-music vibes going on. |

New vox sounding good. The breathy quality suits the material very well. |
