I really like this app, especially now that it works perfectly with my IO dock! Quick question: Is there a way to export the sounds separately as a wav or similar? I want to use these in my DAW, right now seems as though you can only use the audio out to export.

You can export as an .m4a and then email that to your PC or MAC to use in your DAW.
Unrelated question: has anyone gotten this to work as a multi-timbral sound module using an external sequencer app (like Genome)? I want to send it four channels of MIDI and have them all play back at once but it looks like even if you set the channels properly, only the currently selected sound will be played by the external sequencer -- all four sounds only play together when using SampleTank's internal sequencer.

I haven't exactly done what you are asking, but try the following. Select ALL four sounds at once and then try your external sequencer. To select more than one sound you have to tap all the sounds simultaneously. They will all turn red/activated. From there, they should play based on their respective MIDI channel.

Sweet! That worked. Thank you so much... now I can sequence four Sampletank parts from Genome

Playing with this a bit more, and I'm definitely impressed with the sounds, particularly the drum kits with their multiple velocity layers. Very nice!
There are a couple of additional features which I wouldn't mind seeing in the next version: even though I'm now able to sequence all four parts from Genome at once, I can only record one part at a time into SampleTank's internal sequencer. So this involves me hitting record on SampleTank, then zipping over to Genome to hit start as in-sync as I can so that it starts to play at the exact moment Sampletank starts to record. Genome can send MIDI clock and MIDI continue messages, so maybe SampleTank could be made to receive those and start its internal recorder based on a MIDI start/stop/continue message. That way I could layer up the four parts more or less in sync. Failing this, a "start recording with first note" feature like Sunrizer has would be a nice stop-gap.
Additionally, the ability to export recordings as uncompressed WAV or AIF would be handy, too.

I totaly agree with you, I am facing te same problem. I'd like to use Genome to sequence the four parts of Sampletank but it is actually impossible due to Sampletank limitations.
I just use iPad and iPhone to make my music and it would be so great to incorporate Sampletank in my setup but without Any kind of MIDI Sync it is not very usable.
I hope you are planning to make it more compatible with other App.

It's not *impossible*, it's just darned inconvenient: use Genome to sequence the four parts, then record them one at a time (clearing out the previous parts, so you're not actually multi-tracking in SampleTank), saving each one as you go and emailing it to yourself. Then bring the four AAC files into Multitrack.DAW (by tap-and-holding on them in your email program and selecting Multitrack.DAW), and then turn snap off on Multidraw.DAW and align the four tracks manually.
So obviously two big things would make this a lot more convenient: the MIDI sync feature (so you wouldn't need to manually align the tracks) and AudioCopy (so you don't need to do the email-file thing).
That said, the sounds in SampleTank are worth the effort (only the GarageBand sounds come close, and there's not a ton of them).

I was fortunate to pick up one of these:
http://www.ionaudio.com/products/detail ... apprentice
For around $35 off Amazon and I have to say that now I get SampleTank on a WHOLE NEW LEVEL. I got the deal on all of the packs and I have been having a BLAST jamming along with all of the sounds. Playing with a "real" keyboard makes all the difference.
If you ask me, IK should buy all of ION's remaining stock of that keyboard and resell it as the iKlipKeyboard or something (it's a keyboard and an iKlip Studio in one). SampleTank plus that little keyboard is really something else. This is what I was expecting iOS music production to be, real lap-top music production... Blowing my mind.

Instead of upgrading the free version, I downloaded the non-free version instead (and paid through the app store vs. paying through the free app). I think that's what's recommended.

I wonder if the free sticker is preventing ST from being recognized by MIDIBridge. I upgraded from the free version in app but I can't get it to be available in MIDIBridge and from what I read it should be.

It won't show up in MIDIbridge as a port itself. You just have to route midi to the MIDIbridge input port from the out port of whatever you're sending midi from.Keebo wrote:I wonder if the free sticker is preventing ST from being recognized by MIDIBridge.
