I am suffering from serious GAS and leaning toward buying Machfive 3. But I am wondering specifically about the quality of the strings (solo and symphonic) and acoustic guitars, particularly the nylon-stringed. I really want these to be as authentic as possible - I know there are some really nice ones for Kontakt that make use of scripting etc. Is it the same way in Machfive 3?
Would really appreciate your input! Many thanks! Anders ---- Eion Flow - Lush, cinematic electronica. Hear the debut album on http://eionflow.com. Become a Fan on Facebook! http://www.facebook.com/pages/Eion-Flow/158116887559483?v=wall Eion Flow on SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/eionflow/ |

Get Orange Tree samples my friend, for kontakt nothing in the mach five library like that!
The electric piano's are beautiful in m5v3,but takes long times to load, the piano's are good, but again long waiting times, as far as a factory library,it can take you nice places. Very nice library, but if you want great scripts for guitars, orange tree already has you covered, and I've not heard anything come out of the factory library near Orange Tree acoustic. |

I really like the strings in M53, but I'm no expert. It's strange somethings like the electric piano is 7GB and takes a long time to load, others like the strings are tiny and load instantly, but I'm not sensing the quality difference much...both sound great. ---- .. |

Yeah, MachFive seriously needs background loading and smaller DFD buffers... |

Thanks guys. Too bad about the loading times, that's really going to kill inspiration for me. So Kontakt it is in that case...
Thanks also for recommending Orange Tree samples! Does anyone know how their acoustic guitar compares to Chris Hein guitars, or Ilya Efimov's acoustic guitars? Better than CH guitars, au pair with IE guitars. Different flavors, really. |

How does mach5V3 work on PC? Has MOTU PC support improved lately? |

It works nicely for me. ( on PC)
As for the guitars, they are very good on Mach V, but for the comparison VS other products you have to py attention to two things : 1/ They are much more detailed ( articulations etc) than the Kontakt STOCK library. And eventually less than in some 3rd party Kontakt ones. ( not even sure ) 2/ VS some 3rd party Kontakt libs, I think its a good thing to remember that when it comes to sampling, wich involves numerous parameters in wich the source material comes first, the result will be different : I'll take a simple example for this : If you want an "a la Beatles" Rickenbaker, like the very basic one I once bought in a Giga library ( Dan Dean iirc ), the best Fender jazz Bass, with gazillion GO of articulations and scripts, will NOT be the better choice for your project, actually it will be worse. So CH guitars do sound different from OT ones ( I personnaly like both ), and from Effymov ones. Depending of your taste, and/or the projects you work on, you might want to use this or that soundset ( of course the wallet is also to take in consideration ---- www.lelotusbleu.fr Soundbanks for Vsti 5000+ Instruments for 23 Vstis, 8 Sound Designers, Hours of audio Demos. I second that Machfive 3 is working great but I also have a pretty modern comp so I am not sure if that helps or not. |
