Hey guys!

How to create a sound like this, starting at 1:30?

http://soundcloud.com/lariots/nero-crush-on-you-gta-la-riots

My guess is that it consists of some saw waves that are a bit detuned or something, EQed and compressed. Also, I can hear a pretty noticeable reverb. And of course it is pumping because of heavy sidechaining.
My problem is, that I can't get the base sound right, so all processing I hear is useless. Any help is appreciated!

Sounds like a supersaw with a lowpass filter sidechained to the kick drum amplitude.

The saw sounds chorused and detuned kind of like a "swarm of bees" if this helps?

@DREAETH is right (except I think he means "high-pass" filter).... Basically lots of sawtooth waves and slightly detune one of the oscillators, then stick it through a high-pass filter, then a stack of reverb, then add sidechain to taste.

You are correct, sir. The idea always seems to get reversed when it goes through my brain's speech center Razz

Thanks guys, got that sound! My sound is still missing that "swarm of bees" thing, but I am messing with it at the moment so I think I'll get it soon Wink

Pretty sure they've just whacked a load of distortion over it. I can achieve the same effect using Steinberg QuadraFuzz in its initialised state and just clicking on one of the harsher shapes on the right hand side (the middle shape or below).

http://www22.zippyshare.com/v/54752612/file.html (download it rather than just playing it, sounds terrible on the preview)

Fairly close, obviously the reverb is completely different but that's really something you should fit to your mix and not what's being discussed here.

So what I did was make a simple 2 oscillator sound in Sylenth1, both saw waves, detuned, stereo widened, one panned slightly left and one slightly right. Used Sylenth1's bitcrush distortion and also put more distortion over it with QuadraFuzz. Once you have a basic dutch style saw lead, putting some harsh distortion over it will bulk it up to make that "swarm" effect you're looking for.

Hope this helps!
