noticed in the video for mu drum that jo had all his samples available from drop down menus in mu lab;for example in element 1 you click and hold on the drum sample/the name underneath and the other drum samples become available for selection. where do i put my drum samples folder to allow this or how do i define the folder to be used for drop down menu selection?

Dunno what you mean exactly, but:
1. If you haven't loaded any samples in your whole session and you click either on the empty sample window or on the name box (which should show "No sample" if empty) the file browser automatically opens with the last used directory open...
2. if you have already loaded any samples in your session and you click on one of the two before described windows a popup list show up with all the already loaded samples on top and the menu entries "open..." and "none" below...
To populate this list, just load samples into your session ... this popup list will show any sample, which appears as well in the sample manager...
Hope this helps...

i found folder with existing drum samples and copied my own in to it. the list only shows the samples you choose to open. is this something that can be changed and ability scroll through all drum samples in the folder implemented rather than having to manually open them before list is populated?

it's simply the file selector that opens when you select "open". Use the up/down cursor keys to run through the samples.
Once you are in a folder with samples, you can click the little left/right buttons next to the current sample name to select previous/next sample

yes. i noticed the click back/forward to select samples. works fine but summit like izotope idrum that shows a scroll down list of names and selection would useful if you know what drum sound you're looking for. the real beauty of the mudrum is the virtual analogue sounds so happy enough. just though was mibbe missin summit
