Studio One strengths

This is not meant to be any sort of 'war' thread, not a 'vs' thread, nothing like that, so please don't turn it into that. I own and use Reaper but tried the S1 free version, am mightily impressed and considering buying it, but I need a little education to help me decide if I should make the switch. Particularly impressive for me was the groove function, Reaper has a groove function of course but the was S1 snaps the grid to the groove is just too slick, so I want to know more about S1's wonders. I know it has melodyne integration in the pro version, Reaper has reatune but I have no idea how it compares to the acclaimed Melodyne.
Anyhow please understand I'm not a fanboy, I don't want to fight, I just want some advice before I go through the process of switching over. I'm going to the market and placing an add for a cheap WTB S1 Artist or Producer version now. If the price is right that may change everything.
(I edited the title to maybe keep this from being seen as a Reaper thread or something. I just want to know more about S1 particularly the Pro versions' greatest features. My demo timed out and so I can't see any of the features beyond the free version)

Name calling is against KVR rules, and I didn't start whatever war is going on over there, YOU and others did. I stopped posting because of the partisan mood. I don't think this has to be any sort of argument, just looking for advice which I would hope is possible on KVR.michi_mak wrote:hillarious - go ahead punk - just like in your other threads![]()
the other war you didn't start is on page 24 atm

Anyhow, what about the S1 workflow is really impressive to you, and what other killer features are there?

Why not demo it? Is it that hard just to demo it? And for the tips their plentiful on presonus forum. Asking this kind of question here on kvr will only ignite another 'my daw is better than yours' war.

Sorry i don't know if a developer's forum will give me more 'honest' feedback either. And my demo timed out before I explored it adequately.xamido wrote:Why not demo it? One thing I wanted to know, that I asked in their forum but no one was able to confirm, is can you drag and drop midi clips to plugins, I use Trilian's groove lock a lot and want to know if it is possible to drag a clip from S1 to Trilian's arp. My understanding is S1 internally doesn't use Midi so I am not sure if this would work or not. Anyone know?

The Producer version of Studio One V2 is very powerful and affordable , it has 3rd party vst support , maybe you'll be able to snag an upgrade for $99 somewhere . I also have a license for Reaper as well . Both are great .

I can see where this is heading....
But anyway...when I used Studio 1 I liked it for its simplicity. It's great for audio work. I think of it as a powerful audio editing software.
Reaper, though for me, is more usable in that I found that I could assign the audio IO as to what I was used to. As well as the geeky stuff. I think, in a way, Reaper has more going for it.

Yeah if I can get Producer for $99 I'm sold. I was thinking I could get Artist for $50, even if I don't choose to upgrade it would be great on my laptop, and then the upgrade from Presonus is $99 from there when I'm sure. I would eventually want to get the pro version, especially if the advice is that Melodyne integration is the best thing siince sliced bread or something. I like that there are different intervals that I can 'buy in' to the system.todd sweetland wrote:The Producer version of Studio One V2 is very powerful and affordable , it has 3rd party vst support , maybe you'll be able to snag an upgrade for $99 somewhere . I also mentioned that the payoff of better performance for that cost wasn't there, that's why I didn't upgrade, the 'cost' wasn't worth it. I would have stayed on 5 actually as its feature set was fine, just it didn't run well on my machine, and the upgrade wouldn't fix that. Please leave me alone already.michi_mak wrote:from some where back in time :from some where else back in time :braj wrote:...I'm happy with Reaper because partly because it is efficient, but I wouldn't say that if it weren't my experience. My advice is to spend $5 and get the 5-day all-access pass to Groove3.com and spend a few hours watching the S1v2 vids. This will give you an excellent overview of its features and workflow, then you can decide for yourself, not to mention that you'll be able to spend 5 days watching vids for other products (including Reaper).

Really if you are not interested in answering the question about Studio One's strengths, please consider not posting. I'm not looking for a fight here.
