Studio One strengths

I bought Studio One V2 Artist when it was on sale at 20$ for a couple of days in January. Then in February, I bought from someone here the Professional version for 150$. The day after, for Valentine's day, Presonus had a 1 day sale fo 50% off the upgrade. I would have paid also 150$ if I had upgraded from Artist during that sale.
So, if you're patient, maybe Presonus may have some other sales soon. They seems to be very agressive with the price.
By the way, if you want to use Melodyne, the full version of Melodyne Essential is included with the Professional version, while it's only the demo version for Producer or Artist.
I just finished watching the 6 hours tutorial videos from Groove3, and I can't wait to start using this software more in detail. For a DAW, it seems quite easy to use.

I'll keep the 'sale' option in mind, wait for a good price either from KVR market or Presonus.
What about the included instruments and sound libraries, any opinions on those? I think if I use the included instruments as much as possible that may cut down CPU use, I am loving Presence, its great and if the others are as good that is a huge plus. I'm wondering about the expanded libraries in the producer version, how usable/flexible are they? I really had a nice time playing a e-piano that I tweaked and added effects to yesterday, it sounded lovely and better than I could get with most of what else I have, and the UI is great to work with. What about the additional effect plugins, any opinions on them? If you use Studio One, how much do you use its built-in effects and instruments?

Yeah I love Reaper's business model too. And I would have bought S1 already if it were $60todd sweetland wrote:What If ??? I have to say though, the groove feature in S1 is incredibly useful to me, I can comp out a melody and then get the whole arrangement flowing in the same line easily. It is possible in Reaper just not as elegant and quick, and kind of kills the flow. This one thing alone is what really really impressed me and made me start considering Studio One. It is just so nice.

Sweet!cryophonik wrote:My advice is to spend $5 and get the 5-day all-access pass to Groove3.com and spend a few hours watching the S1v2 vids. This will give you an excellent overview of its features and workflow, then you can decide for yourself, not to mention that you'll be able to spend 5 days watching vids for other products (including Reaper).

I'd be almost happy with Artist if I could just use some arpaggiators
at least for starting songs, sketching them out in S1 then move them to Reaper when I want to go further. But i start a lot of things with arps so it kind of kills that plan. I need VSTs! Or Stodio One needs a really good native arp plugin. A polyphonic arp that locked to the groove would be incredible in Studio One.

I just have some questions about it, that's all, I didn't want to keep taking the 'free' thread off-topic to ask about the pro version.Tehnik wrote:gee, I like S1, but how many more topics about it do we really need?
BTW I'm wondering if the Reaper individual license qualifies for the cross-grade price, anyone know anything about that? I can get the crossgrade for $75 a month from zzounds if that is possible. I also sent Presonus a request to have the demo re-enabled.

Something that I find funny about my personality, some of the very things I like about Reaper, ie. all the customization and skins, I am finding refreshing ly absent in Studio One, ie. I'm not tempted to go look for the new coolest skin because it just isn't an option, and not a distraction either. But then again I am not so crazy about how S1 looks and wouldn't mind some color options for the UI ala Live.

The biggest strength for me is that it feels like Logic for PC. One screen, nice eye candy, useful effects. It's just a nice place to be making music in. That's what counts, right?

contact zzounds and see what their policy on crossgrade qualification is. I think it varies from company to company.braj wrote:...BTW I'm wondering if the Reaper individual license qualifies for the cross-grade price, anyone know anything about that? They are just selling the box from what I can tell, it is a matter of authorization with Presonus I think, so they are the ones to answer. But maybe some users here have done that, so I askedprogtronic wrote:contact zzounds and see what their policy on crossgrade qualification is.
