The thing is just that I have both Largo and Blofeld. That's why I'm hesitant about getting a Q.

You have Novation, for example.

If you like lots of knobs then the Novation that you might want to look at would be something like a Nova or Supernova. The sound is a bit different and has its own character just like the Waldorf synths and the Clavia synths have their own character. These come up on Ebay, etc. from time to time. Then there are things like the Roland JP8080 and the MS2000 series from Korg (if you don't mind only 4 note polyphony). JP8080s tend to be more on the expensive side, but I've been seeing plenty of MS2000 series synths on an ongoing basis and it seems on the whole the prices have been fairly reasonable. The Rolands and the Korgs, just like the others I've mentioned also have their own character. So you have to do some research and find out if it's a sound that you will like and that will complement your music and whatever other gear you have already. Finally, of course another one that I really like is the Virus series.

None really worth speaking of IMO. Alesis Ion maybe? I had the micron and it suffered from aliasing in the high registers. Korg Radius? I don't have any experience with that one, but I had an MS2000 for a while and it was OK, but nothing special.

What are you going for? What shape is the synth-hole in your life? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I kind of smell the "I'm looking how to fix a problem I don't have." I know this syndrome very well, as I'm a chronic sufferer.

I try and look at my set up in terms of synthesis types. Not all types are equal to me. I think I like basic analog subtractive the best and I'm willing to spend the money there. Other types like FM and Wavetable aren't quite as interesting to me, though I like them from time to time. So if I can get a hardware FM or wavetable synth that I like fairly cheap, I'll do it. If not I'll find the best software solution. So for me, getting a Q just isn't worth the money. If I could have it for $500, I would but until then software fills that gap pretty nicely.

Earlier in the thread I mentioned I had a NL2x rack, but even that's just because it came up cheap and I figured if I didn't like it that much I could sell it for more than I paid. I've already got a decent analog polysynth and enough good software like Diva to fill in any gaps. So, the NL2x is a solution to a problem I didn't have, but what the hell, I had the money (birthday!) and some space on my desk (Bye by Evolver!)

you are describing my situation and my ideas pretty well
The best syntezisern that I have had was the ESQ1. I have had 3 of them and have made me of them because it was a bit much ESQ1. All I did for 10 years, comprised almost entirely of two machines, ESQ1 and Emax SE, everything else just stood there filling up space
