Well? If not, are there any DAWs that can?

I've searched the manual for this and can't find anything that looks like it can.

reaper can, with an add on. the sws-extension i think it is.

By "scenes," do you mean saving a snapshot of the current mixer settings? Cubase can "Save All Mixer Settings" to a .vmx file which can then be loaded whenever. See page 163 in the manual for more info.

Samplitude, I think.

Yes, Samplitude has mixer scenes as well as snapshots.

Yeah - I guess I should have been more detailed - I mean like what you have on a hardware digital mixing console where you can save and recall all the console settings including automation of those settings.

I think Cubase just takes a snapshot, the automation follows events, saving at the mixer level doesn't save any sense of time.

Ableton Live has something called scenes but I don't know what it is specifically, I imagine it's what you want but I can't verify atm.

Not really considering migrating hosts - just curious what is out there.

I'm also wondering what exactly is saveable/recallable beyond what is native in the DAW's channels - i.e. volume/pan/eq.

I'm guessing that the possibilty of saving mixer scenes which include the state and automation of plugins for each mixing channel could potentially become quite a mess/impossible.

the way I'm working with it is with a plugin, that is a host (VE Pro 5) that exposes its parameters as a list Image

after a point it's best to have a consistent set(s) since they're just called 'parameter 2' etc.; for familiarity...
Image

so 'save as template' is the way to go.

in that list are effects in the FX, midi for the Kore Control, sends, everything. so, according to what the plugin exposes, Cubase can haz.
