Hey,
I use Sample Wrench on the Amiga. It's a great program ... you have to read the docs though. Its user interface was created in the 1980s before a lot of interface standards were created, so to do a lot of things which you expect to be able to do (highlight parts of the sample, etc.), you have to do it in ways other than what Microsoft/Apple have trained us to do. Sometimes the way Wrench does it is more intuitive, sometimes not. I've used the Windows version a couple of times, but not as intensely as the Amiga version. I guess it could be kind of frustrating sometimes, especially when you create a new sample and it defaults to no keyzone and not C4 (#60) as center key, so every time you cut & paste into a new editor window you have to redefine the keyzone & center point. Maybe I'm doing something wrong or this is fixed in the Windows version. Wrench can also be extensively scripted, which is pretty amazing, and great for doing repetitive tasks. - t |

Oh -- I [have] use[d] it successfully with an Akai S-612, a Roland DJ-70mkii & S-750 & S-760, and a Peavey SP.
Had medium success with ASR-X Pro SCSI dump, where it only worked one way -- but that could easy be the Amiga's fault, or a problem with the ASR-X's last released version of its OS. Also Wrench (on the Amiga) requires two-way (active) sample dump, so one-way (passive) transfers don't work -- so, for instance, it can't be used to SDS to MSSIAH on C64 which is passive. |
