Best way to re-create "Berna" for the PC ?

I just stumbled accross Berna
http://www.giorgiosancristoforo.net/softwares/berna/

and I was amazed at how cool it was. Then... my heart sank when I saw it was Mac only and that they don't plan to release it for PC. Then I thought "Hey. With all the free plugins out there, I should be able to put together a decent setup that does what Berna does.

So my question to the experts of the forum:
What free vst's would you use if you were recreating Berna in your windows DAW ?

Or maybe Synthedit. I actually have a purchased copy of that.

Do you have any reccomendations for any separate vst's that would all together as a group do it properly ?

I know my way around Synthedit, but I don't fully trust myself with my building abilities yet.

I contemplated once creating some vsts in synthmaker that would be roughly analogous to the Berna components, then you could patch them together in any old modular host (eg energyxt).

I sort of stalled thinking it would be a bit of a novelty, for the sake of being 'retro' etc

Though, as we know from the discussions on GUIs, maybe people work better with an interface that makes sense to them; give them simple retro-styled oscillators and they'll be radiophonic'ing before you know it. Tell them just to use any simple VA synth and all the fun and inspiration drains away.

Maybe one to revisit. Wink

Pd processing might be the answer as berna is made with max and its awesome great for avant garde type stuff

I would kill to have a Berna for PC. It's almost a crime not releasing such a fun looking thing for the PC !!!

Can we do it in a DAW with some nice already existing pluggins ?

And GaryG, I think that Synthedit project has a lot of merit and might be a lot of fun ! Sure it would be a novelty, but it would also be very inspirational like you said. If I can get a bunch of Berna-like components going in Sonar, it would be fantastic !!!!

Reaktor, for sure.

Aalto as well, not workflow but in term of sounds.
