Its quicker than going thru a million presets
nothing to do with not liking others work or not wanting to listen to it
its about workflow.

I agree 100%. One of my biggest pet peeves is when a synth developer makes it difficult to initialize the synth to a blank slate. I usually prefer to start from scratch and roll my own. I have absolutely nothing against presets, and sometimes I scroll through them when I get stuck and need some inspiration, but it just feels more personal when I roll my own. Also, I'm pretty quick at dialing up a sound in my head, so usually it's just more efficient to make the sound than to search through presets.Kriminal wrote: let me clarify as some are getting the wrong idea (or im not explaing very well). I like other ppl's work, use to use it a lot, but these days i prefer to roll my own, its my own personal choice. I dont feel obliged to use other ppl sounds and nor should anyone. I have a lot of respect for ppl who are good at what they do in any field. Im not saying anyones work is worthless cos i dont use it, far from it.
I would say all my sounds in the last 5-7 years have come from beta testing synths. These usually come with zero sounds in alpha/beta stages, and when im testing i make sounds as part of that. 80% are crap and get deleted and i keep the ones i like. Some go into factory banks, some dont. This is how i work all the time now, blank slate, start afresh....
By the time testing is finished the last thing i feel like doing is going thru 3000 presets. I listen to a lot of them anyway while testing, ppl always put up small audio demos for other testers to check out etc...
make sense or am i wasting my time?
But, yeah, i guess this has gone way off topic again...

Wow, how insightful and informative.Sequent wrote:Just create a "normalized" patch and save it as a preset that you can call up as a starting point.

Press the "8" button on the interface and the Jupiter 8V will load a preset called "default" which is a standard, boring, init preset...
That should be enough, unless you want to remove all the presets included with the synth, which I'm afraid it's not possible (I think it has been asked once or twice on Arturia's forums).
... maybe it's time to start a campaign to bring to the V Collection the Minibrute "no patches" feature...
(just kidding on this, but I'd like if it was possible to put my own banks on top of the preset management instead of the factory ones, as I use almost exclusively my own sounds... it would be even greater if you could choose a custom preset or a bank to init the synth instead of the factory bank as the first thing I do it's always loading one of my patches)

I love the Jupiter. I wouldn't be able to write this riff with DIVA and it's cpu usage

i tried the demo of this synth last week. and its amazing. i am not sure if it sounds like the original jupiter 8. but it gives me instantly this end 70ies/80ies feeling what i have been always looking for.
