Sounds great!
How u did this?

Post

sounds to me like it just needs a kind of metallic reverb. some more low eq maybe, or another synth for the bass. and maybe a bit of equing. but yours is great! please tell us how you did it! hahah

Actually sounds really good, I would love to know how and what you used to get it to that stage?

In the original it is actually a Massive preset that was almost not modified at all. I'm sorry but I'm too lazy to search for it right now.

Just had a quick go at it myself

That would be "BA Aggressive Wobble 3" from the Vengeance Dubstep 1 pack.

Wow, that's it exactly.. that tune must have taken about 2 hours to make.

I like a lot of Nicky Romero's music, but I will say, I don't know that he does much in the way of sound design. He did a video for Future Music a few months ago where he showed how he made Toulouse, and that lead bass is also a straight Massive preset..

Just goes to show that while sound design is important, it all means nothing if the musical ideas aren't there.

Yeah, add a sausage fattner at that preset and you get the real deal!

Agreed with that thing about the Future Music Mag video. It's super ironic aswell - he explains how things like the "gliding piano" and the "main" break-synth (the distorted organ-like guitar) has got a ton of plugins on, and has been processed very heavily. But the main part of the track takes 30 seconds to make from an init Massive instance. Oh well. His composition and synthcombination skills are what makes his tracks. Not his sound design / preset choice. And i find him being a talented musician - even if he doesn't do so much super high-tech sound designing.

There is actually a preset in Massive called "Babylon" that is almost the exact same sound as used in Metropolis. I did nothing to the sound except for a simple logic low pass filter on the beginning. With some better automation on the filter i think it's pretty damn close. This is also the preset renkye talked about i think

yea seems like they used massive with some of those performer envelopes to slow down the sound.

How did you do the wobble?! I didn't try to recreate the sound but I liked the wobble you did. I putted an envelope in the performer and I almost got the wobble you had. Here's the result I got of it.
