How to recreate a Kontakt patch in Shiortcircuit?

I'm trying to recreate a Kontakt sample patch using Shortcircuit.

For that kontakt patch "Synth.NKI", there is for instance 6 wav files:
Synth D3.wav
Synth D4.wav
Synth D5.wav
Synth G2.wav
Synth G3.wav
Synth G4.wav

In Shortcircuit one can load a sample to play on the whole keyboard.

To load 6 wav files like that will not really work as one get different keys playing at the same time, D and G in this example.

So how are the kontakt nki's made? Do they assign zones for each wav file, or what?

the trick is to set the range (loewest, highest, and root note) for each of the samples so that they don't play on each key you hit. just select a sample in shortcircuit and you'll notice these settings in the right part of the gui.

Just map the multisamples across the keyboard - e.g.

zone 1 - Synth G2 - range C2 - A#2
zone 2 - Synth D3 - range B2 - E3
zone 3 - Synth G3 - range F3 - A#3

and so on - you can drag and drop all the sample into Kontakt at once and then do the mapping (in list view) or do it sample by sample.

EDIT - sorry, the question was about Shortcircuit which I don't know, I was referring to the mapping in Kontakt...

Thanks, I thought that could be the way to go.

I'm getting tired of the 15 min deadline for external samples in Kontakt Player.

I just got round to using Shortcircuit and it's pure dynamite of a program once I understood what power lies under its confusing (IMO) GUI.

I don't get why not more sample sets are made for it. When I buy Computer Music or FM for instance the multisamples are always tailor made for Kontakt, how difficult would it be for them to also include a Shortcircuit *.scm file?

Yeah, I saw that the other day, excellent!

But I'm not so into the 8bit sound now, even though I owned a C64 back in the 80's and learned drum programming with the excellent MicroRhythm

These days I want lush evolving pads Angelic Cool Very Happy

oh, Shortcircuit 1 should work very well for pads! with the mod matrix and all those built-in FX, you can create some pretty cool stuff.

Shortcircuit is an incredibly good sampler (especially for the price!)

Wish some freeware developer would take it over and continue the work on it.

.... and bring out a Mac version, too.....

I like Shortcircuit and I've used it many many years. Only big problems for me are the lack of round robin and lack of streaming. Streaming isn't so crucial but round robin is. I actually bought Kontakt last autumn but I still use SC quite a lot because I have lots of sounds for it. Of course it can't match Kontakt (scripting in Kontakt is phenomenal!) but for free it is damn fine product.

Of course it can't match Kontakt's scripting, but for sample mangling there is no better sampler. Plus it's incredibly quick to work with.
A real pity Claes didn't continue working on it - it'll be interesting to see if any of the ideas went into bitwig, though...
