M4, what reason would you have for thinking it was "discontinued".... certainly not the guy in question, right?
Though I agree, sony hasn't provided much since taking over. Then again, look at the times. "Acid" was a loop based program that isn't in "it's time" anymore. It would need a rewrite to get up to speed and that is not in the cards. There is no future in a PC based "daw" that is light-years behind current daws that are less money that I can see. Sorry to those who are using it as their "Riker" |

Nice, entertaining read Usually it's pretty hard to deal with people who don't know shi* about computers and musicians are usually arrogant [and lazy to learn, sorry I'd like one, too, actually. Cheers! Oh and there are those who think everything will be just "peachy" if they buy a Mac... |

long long time ago i had been using ACID. once contacted the tech support re several issues (MIDI syning etc). despite it was obvious that there are some serious gaps within the software i was told that everything is ok with ACID and my setup is f$%# up. it was the last time i used it. since then I lived happily ever after |

He mentions he's "found" Acoustica Mixcraft. Well, apparently he's found that he loves the sound of his own (posting) voice over at their forums...

is it hibidy? ---- To laymen, software development is something akin to wizardry. Neither time, nor effort are involved. If software is missing features they want, or has bugs, it is solely because someone has been too lazy to wave their magic wand. |

I had more problems with acid and my tascam us 244 then you could shake a stick at. The mixer didn't work with acid and I was forever panning all my playback channels hard left and my recording channel hard righ to escape from bleeding.
The only thing that worked with the us 244 was the free version of cubase included and that was buggy as hell. It's funny, before Sony bought Acid from Vegas it was a nice product for it's time. I was getting lots of post production work that required acid over pro tools and the rest back them. Which is why I was using it. Sony butchered acid dummying it down because they had Peter put on a nice face and told forum users "We weren't the market" That it was designed for a less sophisicated crowd. Which is why all the features we knew and loved were gone. Even when they came out with the original Acid Pro it was plagued with problems didn't still didn't have the features of the original Vegas acid and cost a small fortune. Less for more. With the whole advent of root_kit and other things I'd experienced such as my surround sound system taking a dive two months after the warranty expired. I've sworn off Sony for life. Even Magix allowed for selecting which device is used for what purpose. Rather then forcing you to use a single sound card which is the OP's issue. As for Tascam's US-244 it was a one trick pony and didn't do the trick to well or play nice with my daws. In the analog days I'd had tascam reel to reels, four track cassette recorder that were outstanding products. The US-224 forever stained their rep with me in the digital domain. ---- Oh no, that's next door. It's being-hit-on-the-head lessons in here. |
