In Breakbot's new track, I really like the sparkly synth starting at :20. It has a great pensive feeling and it opens up the track really well!

Any ideas on how to do it?

Thanks!

1. I f**king HATE media players not showing seconds played and song length. hipster bullshit.

2. nice synth sound! I think you could get close by saw wave with amp env: low-medium sustain, no attack, medium decay, and filter env: fast-medium attack, medium decay, and base cutoff quite low. you get that cute wobbly attack and then a soft, quiet sustain. I heard some movement in the sustain aswell. perhaps bring in a bit of square and LFO the PWM, or LFO amp or cutoff very slightly.

hope that helps.

probably a really heavy stereo delay too right?

oh, we might be referring to different sounds... I was talking about the lead, but now realize you may have been requesting the chord thing starting before. is that correct?

hard to tell with that hipster bullshit page :(

Nah, i'm talking more about the effect synth that slowly rises in the background!

ah I see. that makes more sense to call "sparkle", yes yes.

I would say triangle wave randomly arpeggiating a suspended chord (in this case Gsus2/Dsus4), with the root octaved, panned left with delay to the right. you need to play it in a really high octave. I _think_ envelope trickery should get you there. if you need more brightness, try light distortion or mixing in some square.

let me know how it's going when you've tried it out!
