I'm sure some of you already know about this but Vin from Dawbench has collaborated to come up with this round trip latency checker (one that avoids some of the issues of using LTU). Now you can despair at just how poorly your particular interface is performing (unless you're an RME user) ;)

You can check out some of the results here. I bought my system off Vin awhile back and I remember clearly the grimace on his face when I told him I was using Focusrite gear ;)

Interesting. I'm not surprised Firewire and USB interfaces have a bit higher latency. But the ESI MAYA44e (PCIe) stands out a bit too much at 64 samples. An error, maybe?

I've tested my old M-Audio 2496 PCI for RTL (with Reaper) and it performs better than all of them at "64 samples" (RTL is 4.308ms or 190 samples at 44.1), except for the Lynx AES 16e.

I often have that look on my face when using my Focusrite pro 26.
I much prefer my RME multiface. It's not just better for low latency, I think the converters sound a bit better also.

I was disapointed with the pro 26 as I bought it after reading nothing but good reviews about it.

Yeah, RME have alwats had the best drivers and good quality converters. Ive got the Saffire 56 - not the best latency for sure but it has a feature set that's better than most other similarly priced firewire cards. However, Im waiting on the UAD Apollo.
