to stay on topic, this are the effects:
1) reaplugs
2) fabfilter
3) valhalla
if the plugin isn't on this list then it's too old school for my taste.
if the plugin is emulating something old, its irrelevant today.
these are the companies for the dinosaurs in the business to beat.
of course thats my opinion and i hope you have your own.

Actually, that's exactly how iZotope expects you to use them. In fact, so many folks were using it as a channel strip, they came out with Alloy as a lighter resource alternative. The reason O5 advanced breaks out into separate components is so you can put the effects into your track inserts.lightsfadelow wrote: I totally cheated, of course because with Ozone, you get a bunch of individual "component" plugins. And I'm pretty sure I'm using them in a way iZotope didn't intend, as individual track plugins.
I cheaped out and only got O5 basic, but I've got a pretty powerful setup, and I'm able to use it just fine as a track insert. Of course this makes Alloy redundant, but, so be it. O5 really is a great plug.

I agree.
Bootsy's plugins rival any expensive, over-priced commercial stuff. Great choices. Sensible suggestions.

Valhalla Room for your classic studio reverb, And FM8 for a whole workstation's worth of clanging metallic sounds ready to go right at your fingertips.

Upward compressors, because I can't play MIDI guitar accurately enough to use velocity. My Rock Band drumset doesn't even have velocity.
