That's amazing, no-one here had any idea they were "working on things." Incredible.jsheem wrote:Development is slow because their working on things.
As to your desire that NI don't give free upgrades to punish user who dare to be pissed off at slow development - good luck.

I think Komplete 9 will be interesting. I'm looking to upgrade 8 to ultimate but something tells me that 9 will include software from the ultimate collection, for instance Session Strings Pro and Alicia's Keys.
Then ultimate 9 will include some of there latest releases which are currently being sold such as Damage.

Not likely. Maschine's main focus is live work, which isn't the traditional DAW environment. You'd need to completely redo the program from the ground up IMO.jsheem wrote: Maschine-Maybe turns into a DAW in the future or NI team up with another company to do it?
Absynth will always have new tricks up its sleeve; Brian Clevinger's a guy with a lot of ideasAbsynth 5- Not Sure
The way I could see FM8 possibly going is in the SY77/99 vein with sample oscillators as an option in the current 6op config. Will it happen? Who knows- I sure don't.FM 8-Not Sure
The big change I could maybe see happening here is user wavetable support (which I'd love, personally). Will it happen? Once again- who knows...Massive-Not sure
Oh yes- Kontakt's the standard for samplers nowdays. There's too many people who rely on it.Kontakt- Will continue to be developed
That's the way most people use it anyways. If they're hung up on the name, that's their problem, no?Guitar Rig- Maybe they drop guitar from it and just call it "The Rig". It will be used just as an effects rack maybe?
Battery's the one I have questions about, to be honest. Kontakt's taken a lot of Battery's gloss away with the drum libraries such as 60s drums. Maschine's big problem there would be kit size; you'd need multiple groups for most of Battery's larger kits.Battery 3- The battery 3 library will get put in Kontakt 6 or the maschine library.
I don't see that happening at all. While CPU use is becoming less and less an issue as time goes on, you're still looking at least a 400-500% CPU load increase doing Reaktor clones of their current line, and you'd be missing features to boot. The focus I'm guessing in the future will be around Maschine, Kontakt 5, Guitar Rig, and Reaktor. I think NI is trying to consolidate their products. Maybe FM 8, Absynth, and Massive sounds get put into Reaktor. BTW, do you guys think those synths are getting too old? I'm ready for new synths from them. I'm just thinking out loud.
As to are they getting too old, have you exhausted all the sonic possibilities? Thought not...

Keir from NI has stated that Jens the old product manager for Maschine was promoted to head of product management (or something to that effect) and they're looking for a replacement.DrGonzo wrote: Yeah - I also get that impression. Indeed it is. I talked to lots of people from both Berlin and LA at the US office's 10th anniversary bash, and most of what I heard was very positive.awol9000 wrote:Keir from NI has stated that Jens the old product manager for Maschine was promoted to head of product management (or something to that effect) and they're looking for a replacement.DrGonzo wrote: Yeah - I also get that impression. So they aren't going to pull a Kore on Maschine just yet then? That's good to hear...ew wrote:Indeed it is. I personally think that dropping Kore was a huge mistake on their part, no doubt about it. I'm just glad that it runs well on my W7 64 bit systems...DrGonzo wrote:So they aren't going to pull a Kore on Maschine just yet then? That's good to hear...ew wrote:Indeed it is. I appreciate the help you have given NI users on here and their websites forum. But many kore users believed you when you said Kore was not going to be discontinued. We shall wait to see what they are going to do. I take your post as a decent predcition for what might happen. NI already hired a senior product manager for maschine. I see they took the ad down since last week. I don't know...ew wrote:I personally think that dropping Kore was a huge mistake on their part, no doubt about it. I seriously thought that they wouldn't drop Kore; I thought that they'd make Maschine's MIDI out as a plugin be less convoluted instead.jsheem wrote:I appreciate the help you have given NI users on here and their websites forum. I was wrong, and they developed plugin hosting in Maschine.
While I halfway understand their logic, there's still some glitches in the way Maschine handles incoming MIDI as far as how I work. For example, with Maschine, I like to switch patterns in various groups on the fly. But, if I'm playing a synth via MIDI that's loaded into Maschine, the synth's group will lose the incoming MIDI if I switch groups to change patterns. This isn't good for obvious reasons, ,...

...and I'm really annoyed that the Kore browser was also pulled from their synths. I have never seen a feature being removed from a product during a single version cycle. Just to have Maschine compatibility. I don't know why the removed the timbre category as this was the one that defined a sound the most (at least for me). Instead they left the bank category, which is kind of redundant as you could browse bank folders via the synth's file browser. What happened to "find sounds fast"? Really not happening here with Maschine. Its browser is already pretty useless for managing the NI sounds. Remember, Maschine has to handle all the sounds that Kore did plus the ones from Maschine - and all of that with an inferior browser! I got the crossgrade from Kore and I will see which way Ableton will go. It might be that I'll get rid of Maschine again.
Anyway, I'm hoping that Kore's technology will go into their other products as much as possible. I could imagine serveral scenarios in which at least its vast routing possibilities could go either into Kontakt, Guitar Rig or Maschine. Especially Kontakt and GR could improve a lot regarding parallel processing...

You can already do a lot of parallel chains with Guitar Rig- the split module's one of my favorite things about GR. But yeah- that was Kore's strong point IMO- the routing capabilities.loachm wrote: Anyway, I'm hoping that Kore's technology will go into their other products as much as possible. By the way, I didn't know about Kore being dropped until they made the public announcement. My GF at the time says she learned a whole bunch of new vocabulary that day...

I had just about accepted NI ditching Kore when they delivered the final "f**k you," by ripping out the Kore browser from everything else of theirs I owned.loachm wrote:+1ew wrote:I personally think that dropping Kore was a huge mistake on their part, no doubt about it.

Native Instruments are bunch of c**ts as far as I'm concerned, won't be getting any more of my cash.
