Apparently the ipad is finicky as to which hubs work. I dunno, since I bought one from a list of known to work models on one of the IOS sites.

By the way, which one you got?

Belkin 4 port powered hub:

Thanks Very Happy
So to recap you were able to connect a keyboard and the ZED10FX at the same time via this hub right?

That's correct.

I can use my AKAI LPK25 (USB midi device, via USB cable) or my MicroKorg (5 pin midi device, via M-Audio UNO) while monitoring through the Zed10FX when everything is hooked up to the hub, and the hub is connected to the ipad via CCK.

In fact, the LPK25 and the 5 pin UNO midi work simultaneously, going so far as to control different registers of the same instrument, all while audio is playing through the Zed10.

Full disclosure: I've only tested this in Garageband, so far.

Can someone that has one tell me the measurements of the iU2? Either it's there and I'm missing it, or they didn't list the dimensions.

Amazon lists it as 8.4 x 7.5 x 3 inches, but maybe that's for the box? (Neeh, I think that's about right if my inches to cms mental calculation is not wrong and I remember those iu2 videos correctly).

Edit
Neeh, it is not that big.
In the manual, they state the dimensions.
11 x 11 x 2 cms, which would be like 5 x 5 x 1 inches.

Not to hijack this thread, but i've tried a strange thing with my iPad (3rd gen) and Iu2....
Connected Camera Connector Kit to iPad, then to an USB powered hub.
From the hub i had an ESI master keyboard and a pad controller.... insofar nothing unusual, BUT..
Then I switched my IU2 to 'Computer (USB)' mode,
AND
plugged into the powered USB hub.
Audio I/O worked flawlessly!!!
As of today, I haven't done any stress test, but it seems like a nice configuration for mobile composing/recording!
'Course you can't pretend to have the Iu2 supply phantom power to condenser mics, with this arrangement, but ....

Sorry, but your description of how you had things hooked up leaves a lot to be desired. You don't mention the iU2 being in the chain at all, and then you switch it to USB mode, and then... I have no f'ing idea.

Care to try that again?

Made perfect sense to me.

Yeah, I don't even have the thing and it made sense to me. The nice thing about the ipad is that it can handle multiple devices on the hub.

Ah, I get it. I guess my confusion actually was with albystarvation's surprise that the iU2 worked as a class compliant usb interface... seeing as how it's a class compliant usb interface.

I, for one, appreciated albystarvation's contribution to this thread.

Anyone having problems with audio output when placing an apps in the background? I have tried multiple apps and I am having audio glitches when back grounding the apps. When I plug my headphones into the ipad3's headphone out the audio is fine. This only affects the IU2's output. Anyone else?

I don't have an iU2 but I have noticed that some apps like to be loaded before others when using external audio outs. If I load Sunrizer before Thumbjam, Sunrizer doesn't work, but the other way works. This topic deserves to be in a new thread because it suggests that there's a problem with iOS and Background Audio implementation when using an external interface.

I got the iU2 to use it with the "new iPad". It works for some time, but after a few minutes it starts "click&pop" like crazy. Also it often just stops making any sound, until I replug it.

The build quality is beyond crappy by the way. I thought people were overreacting, but it is really, really bad. Worst I've ever seen with any music device.

Anyway, I wouldn't care if this thing worked, but it doesn't! Guess I'll have to send it back!

I had my friend try Animoog with his Alesis io dock and ipad1, and it did the same thing that my iu2 does. When he put Animoog in the background it began to glitch. Sounds like buffering errors. So it appears there may be an issue with background audio and the 30 pin connector using external devices.
