Music seems to be in that moment on the time scale where a lot of important and legendary artists and songwriters from the 60's/70's/80's and even the 90's are passing away. So many great inspirational music makers who created the foundation for so many different styles of music... Michael Jackson - Guru - Adam Yauch - Whitney Houston (to name just a few) and now Donna Summer. 'I feel Love' and 'State Of Independence' with her amazing vocal performances are timeless and at the least we have that so her legacy lives on. I just hope that 'State of Independence' is re-released and goes to No1 so that a whole new generation of young people will hear just how fantastic she (and Moroder) were. RIP to one of the greats. A sad day for music (again).

Sorry, but that's not Donna singing. I have that acapella and it's soooo definitely not her. Listed as someone named Laurie ---

That's the only fair thing in this world! If you have a billion-$$-studio or just a 25-keys-keyboard in your bedroom -- you can't take it with you after your death.vurt wrote:sorry to say it, but we're getting old.synthmagic wrote:Whats happening? Oh man. Not grief-whoring. Honest.
Donna Summer was my queen. Moroder the king.
She worked hard for the money. Her time in Germany.
I fell in love with Laura Branigan. And then when I heard Donna's voice, I thought: wait a minute. A g/f of mine was a session singer for a big uk band.
I mentioned the similarity to her and she said: You are not the first person to say this. So check out Laura's voice compared to Donna's.
Laura died too young. She took her own way out.
Alright.
Then answer me this:
How come the very song that started disco and then techno, did not spawn millions in imitation of it's voice? Just duh duh duh duh.
Donna Summer, that's why.
------------------------------------------------------------
My better judgement says that I should have deleted that, so don't hold it against me.
I'll let it stand.
Donna Summer - one of the top ten female vocalists ever.
Actually, she was no.1 in her field.
The top queen.
There will be no tears shed for her.

Sounds like a signal from you
Bring me to meet your sound
And I will bring you to my heart
Love like a signal you call
Touching my body my soul
Bring to me, you to meet me here
Home be the temple of your heart
Home be the body of your love
Just like Holy water to my lips
Yes I do know how I survive
Yes I do know why I'm alive
To love and be with you
Day by day by day by day
Time, time again, it is said
We will hear, we will see
See it all-in his wisdom-hear
His truth will abound the land
This truth will abound the land
This State of independence shall be
This State of independence shall be
(Hey, hey Yayah yaya oh)
