CF cards aren't very cheap. wondering if there's a new
alternative to the CF>PCMCIA adapter flash>scsi setup
people have been using in their samplers. eg SD card.
have no experience of using the CF>PCMCIA rig or how it
works out.
alternative to CF scsi flash drive?

CF cards are cheap.They are only £10-£15 and that usually includes postage. It's SCSI readers/adapters that are the expensive part.
ANd not all CF readers need a PCMCIA adapter. I have 2 readers that accept CF cards as standard.

ugh yeah SORRY!!! lol...was way off in the wild there
for a moment (it was late, tired etc.) and mixing up
me smartmedia an' me compac' flash..
indeed, CF cards are cheap - and current. it's those
weird smartmedia cards that are pricey(and small capacity)
Mitch, please point me to those better CF readers!!
i do not at all like the idea of some big pcmcia card
sticking out of the machine at me.
i hear that one guy doing these retrofits went under,
so availability?
also, i recall reading about 'scsi flash drives'..
are these actual units, or does it refer to the same thing,
eg: imagined an internal unit inside the machine, maybe linked
to a front loader bay, etc.
???

suppliers?(looking...)

have another question on this:
suggestion on how to keep the back scsi connector without
buying a replacement custom scsi cable with a centronics
at one end??
i have a 3 header scsi cable (or two) here..could i just cut off
the end connector in order to refit the original e-mu scsi output
connector? is that hard to do? will it work?
eg: front bay scsi to mainboard scsi to scsi rear connector.
any idea of the termination issues for this? i've got a termination
plug somewhere if need be. i just want to keep it so i can connect
a cdrom unit or zip etc when necessary.
