Looking for a transient-activated LFO tool.

Any ideas? For example I want to use Cableguys Filtershaper when one of my bassdrums hit. I know this uses midi..so maybe there is a way to do transient->midi and feed that into cableguys? Was just wondering. I don't use midi for my drums so that's not the easiest options.
The reason for this is..I want to automate the cutoff filter of a kick exactly when it hits, to give it a nice clean sharp sound. I do this for 4 to the floor already using the cableguys tool, latched onto 1/4. However, I also want it to happen when I have more complicated improvised rhythms going kickwise as well.

Use something like Sensomusic Usine and route the audio of your kickdrum through an envelope follower and then use the output of the envelope follower to modulate the cutoff of your filter

I do stuff like that with a MIDI compressor (which outputs CC). I have one online at the moment-It's a 32 bit Windows plugin

plugins dont seem to produce the same sound each hit, a lot of plugins crack under the pressure of such a fast value changeVariKusBrainZ wrote:Autamation cloned to all your kicks

So, you basically solved your problem yourself. Use KTDrumTrigger to convert your bass drum hits to MIDI notes and feed them to FilterShaper.

I assumed Filtershaper had midi in, I was wrong. I got my lines crossed with VolumeShaper and MidiShaper. Any other suggestions?geroyannis wrote:So, you basically solved your problem yourself. Use KTDrumTrigger to convert your bass drum hits to MIDI notes and feed them to FilterShaper.

Camelphat has an envelope follower attached to the multimode filter that may be fast enough, depends on the sound you're after...
Can almost guarentee you can pull it off with Fabfilter Volcano though! Can send the kick into Volcanos sidechain input and attach an envelope follower to a filter and the mix amount, that way the transient gets the filter modulation then quickly fades into dry tail

Yeah, FilterShaper is not there yet.. the next big version will have MIDI input. For now, you could use MidiShaper to read from MIDI in, draw an LFO, and route that to MIDI CC to automate any of your favorite filters.sirocco wrote:I assumed Filtershaper had midi in, I was wrong.
