You know when your VSTi, VST, DAW, sound editor, game, or notepad crashes. A helpful little window pops up. It informs you that 'Windows is checking for a solution to your problem' and it sits there for a while. Then ... well ...

I use my computer all day every day and I only use Windows. I realised yesterday that Windows has, in fact, NEVER ONCE 'found a solution to my problem'. I wonder what the next Window would look like if it *did* find a solution. I wonder if anybody has EVER seen this mythical Window. Have you ............

Never.

Not once.

I remember one version of Internet Explorer that really took the biscuit. It would cause technical problems all by itself before proudly announcing that it had 'saved' you from a crash.

After disabling that annoying little thing, if it goes boomcrash it just closes then reboots...not that I've had any DAW totally go on me...

i leave this message on and let it send it to microsoft.

sometimes i don't know if the crash is software related or because
of a wrong ram value,a driver/bios failure,or a hardware failure.

i got a free ticket for support once even with my german oem win7 (system builder edition) which isn't allowed to have free support at all,because of an unsuspected shutdown message.

to many people do not report os's failures and it isn't always easy to figure out the reason but the report is helping microsoft if the crash is os related.

Which is why you should use a Mac...because problems never occur...BUT...if they did you your machine would offer you a solution...in a soothing female voice...while it made you a latte.

It's never found a solution for me, usually just says that new hardware or software may have caaused the problem and suggests I contact the manufacture(s).

Meffy, just curious... has anyone actually disabled this and had success doing so? My experience with Vista is that whenever I disable, change or modify anything it usually initiates a downward spiral of other annoying little glitches in the operating system that eventually force me to either restore it or worst case scenario, total format and re-installation. It really seems to run best if I just leave it alone.

Vista was the worst decision I ever made in my life, but I'm used to it now.

Has Windows ever actually FOUND a solution to your problem?
