The general consensus in the music business is that The Bass Player is the most aggrieved and dissatisfied member of any ensemble. I have many good friends that are bass players and even they will admit there is some truth to this stereotype.
perhaps even funnier because i just started playing bass in my friend's band. their old bass player - a lawyer for real - says he is suing them... srsly

The David Lowery piece has some good information, but it is a bit incoherent in places. There are better pieces on the Tricordist site. I get their newsletter which has a lot of good stuff promoting copyrights.
