The girl may be nice, but the song isn't. There are at least 5 millions of Swedish pop songs that sound the same...ttoz wrote:I thought the order was perfect although i wanted serbia to come second not third.. i thought his song was very emotional and beautiful.. and a good voice if a *tad* samey...xamido wrote:That sweden song is so generic i don't even understand why she win.
NOW..
why did Loreen win?
I wish i wrote a pop song that great!
Ok it's pop, the song is a bit generic but it's uplifting..
but no one has mentioned why SHE deserved to win and why SHE won!
Did anyone actually bother to notice the girl is STUNNING and is gorgeous in interviews, humble, likeable, earthy, totally non pretentious
but MOST OF ALL, forget the song if you are not into pop..
but listen to her VOICE
she was FLAWLESS!! She reminded me of a more natural enya with about a tenth of the processing.
She was haunting and i could only imagine how gorgeous she would sound on a big ballad.
I was rooting for her and serbia.
I'm so happy
at least one of us is!!
Oh, and if anyone asks me, i am not GREEK at the moment, how embarrassing! Now THAT Was a tragedy, easily amongst the 5 worst of the evening.
The Greek song at least had a bit of Greek instrumentation and sounded worlds better than for instance the German Roman Lob who sounded the same like all other boy-group-songs...maybe I would like him if I was a 12 year old girl...
What I like especially: Mandinga from Romania. There are a REAL band since several years, and it's a great idea to combine Latino pop and dance music with Romanian lyrics...

Seems we saw the same contest.ttoz wrote:I thought the order was perfect although i wanted serbia to come second not third..
I thought Russia ended a bit too high, cute ideá but got old really fast.
In general I think this year was a bit better than usual, very surprisingly so.
Maybe I'm just getting (too) old...
She comes across that way in Swedish interviews as well. So it's not a language thing. Very genuine, kind and gentle. But here in Sweden she was almost reaching deity status already before winning Eurovision, not her fault but it gets a bit annoying. Well, she'll probably come crashing down in six months if the media acts as usual...ttoz wrote:Did anyone actually bother to notice the girl is STUNNING and is gorgeous in interviews, humble, likeable, earthy, totally non pretentious
Anyway, this is one of very few times I'm not embarassed by the Swedish contribution I think. Including Abba in the 70's. Yep, I'm old.

Loreen's song was great I like EDM, trancy songs but Euphoria was like trance with great singing but without all the anoying typical trance stuff. Loads of people are hating it because it has some trance style lead synths come on chill out.

I don't hate it but it sounds like a standard club track from 1997. That doesn't really surprise me though because I find the EDM scene here in Sweden to be years behind the rest of Europe.Kaboom75 wrote:Loreen's song was great I like EDM, trancy songs but Euphoria was like trance with great singing but without all the anoying typical trance stuff. The majority of dance music I hear here sounds like something from 1993-94. There are CDs of the stuff released constantly, "Party Hits VOL. 25" etc etc. It may have something to do with the zero tolerance approach by the Swedish authorities to EDM club culture.

I think that was intentional, all a conspiracy to prevent Greece having to host next year, y'know, all a bit Father Ted if you ask me...ttoz wrote:Oh, and if anyone asks me, i am not GREEK at the moment, how embarrassing! Now THAT Was a tragedy, easily amongst the 5 worst of the evening.

I was rubbing my hands with expectation but no. They had to spoil it. Was that last 3 or 4 seconds mimed? Surely not!GaryG wrote:

We didn't even get to see Dana International trip over the floor.
Whatever happened to entertainment?

I'm convinced that Loreen can sing very good, but the song itself sounded oldfashioned and boring. Even the Russian grandmas had more originality.lotus2035 wrote:I don't hate it but it sounds like a standard club track from 1997. You really think the whole EDM scene in Sweden is years behind the rest of Europe? If I listen to things like Swedish House Mafia or Tim Bergling (Avicii), I think it's at least partly up to date. There are a lot of skilled Swedish DJ's out there...

However, nevertheless they had more "style" than "your" UK contribution by Engelbert Humperdinck...GaryG wrote:Now, if someone had accidentally given them cabled mics while they were dancing in the fountain...osiris wrote:One word: Jedward!!!!
