Phonec is a new synth from Psychic Modulation that is currently in the works. I would describe it's sound as ranging from mellow and slightly unstable simplicity to techno infused psychedelic minimalism. Phonec will feature an arpeggiator and sequencer that work together to create interesting rhythmic grooves and an alternative electronic sound. The oscillators can be destabilized to create that analog drifting effect, and can be taken further with a 'Bend' function for a melted VHS vibe. Phonec can be heavily modulated with 3 powerful LFOs, as well as an experimental UFO modulator. The overall sound is run through an Echoshifter, which is a unique delay/pitchshifter with a subtle yet distinguishable effect.

I'm putting alot of thought into the GUI, which I hope to make as big a part of the user experience as the sound. I wrote a little about the inspiration for the design aspect on my blog here: http://parallelstructures.wordpress.com/2012/05/19/1970s-des ign-inspiration/

All in all, Phonec will be a simple instrument that is fun to use. I'm trying to avoid an overblown project that tries to cover all the bases. I have a certain sound in mind and I want to keep it in that realm, which I hope will make it very good at what it does. There will be plenty room for experimentation of course, but I want to focus on limitation as a means to spur creativity.

I will post some screenshots and sounds on this thread sometime this week.

Sounds very interesting. I would be glad to do some beta testing for you. I do have formal testing experience if that would help.
