I am still at work, but I got Saurus today :hyper:

Can't wait to get home, download/install and try it out over the weekend.

Who knows, I may still get Minimonsta

Thanks for all the advice :)

Congratulations for your purchase. :)
I hope you will have fun with Saurus.

The work on the first official Saurus expansion seems to be quite advanced now.
Looks like the submitted presets are currently sorted.

I am working on short preset demos currently. One for each preset if possible and sorted by categories.

Best wishes,
Ingo

Thanks George, looking forward to making new music with it, and some presets too. :)

This weekend will just be getting used to what it can do sound-wise, and a lot of reading from the manual.

I didn't really know about the different effects in it...just read a bit about them a few minutes ago. Cool stuff!

Yes, it's great! The only thing is yesterday I didn't much time to do anything, so right now (just made the coffee..5:25am here) I am going through the manual.

I want to know what I am doing of course, so it will take a little while. :)

This has sound audio demos of Saurus in action.
Exactly. I'll update my last two demos soon with the final version of my presets and with both no external FXs and with an EQ used.

Not meaning to be too inflamatory... but certainly in these example you only seem to have the sound types that aren't too difficult to recreate with VAs..

If you really want to demonstrate 'analogness' I think you probably need to have some more punchy bass/seq type sounds, and some leads where the cut off is played a bit more.

I reckon 75% of sounds from most synths can be recreated very well with almost anything, e.g. reaktor even can match 75% of sounds from a tetra with the simple 2-Osc VA ensemble **until you start to turn the filter cutoff/res.

That said, I did think the sounds sounded pretty good.

In any 'emulation' type discussion, of course Diva must be mentioned as it really is the most lush sounding VA with great attention to detail. People who complain about the CPU need to 1) learn how to use Freeze in their DAW and 2) do some work with a real analog where you have to record in realtime with no bouncing.

I still don't see much need to even try out Saurus... it just won't offer anything new.

I don't want to freeze. It's 21st century, freeze is so last century. :P

True that. Never heard people complaining about a mainstream song that it's not analog enough.

Exactly.

Don't get either Saurus or Minimonsta - get Massive or Largo!! :hihi:

that said, analog bass is still a 'bit' better, as are analog pads... and analog leads where the type of sound fits!! oh... damn... analog still wins for lots of types of sounds!!
