I got some VSTs from DFK. These plugins are great..and MuLab works great with the YouRock.
Once you get used to the YouRock, set it up right, it plays like a nylon string guitar. You can wiggle your finger on a note, and it will behave just like "real" guitar. You can also bend the neck, and just wiggle the body.. and it will warp the notes.
I got the DFK "Steel Guitar" VST..then quickly downloaded more. I got the DFT "Saxophone one".
Because of the above behaviors..you can wiggle it around, just like a sax player wiggles the key on his sax.. and boy...it is very expressive. It is not quite a sax.. but far better than the sounds a MIDI keyboard makes. You can get the vibrato and bend in there... you can do hammer ons..man I LOVE IT!
The next thing I am trying to figure out is how to use the volume knob for swells. You can be very expressive with this little "toy". However, for the sax, it will be a lot better when I figure out how to make the volume swell up and down..just like a sax player does with his breath.
I am starting to forget I am playing a MIDI controller.

Thanks for the info, carroll6! I've had my eye on the You Rock for a year or so now, and as soon as I've got some extra cash (HA!) I'll pick one up. I think AudioMidi had one on sale a few months ago for $139.

That is "DSK" plugins! They are free or donationware. I like the Steel Guitar (steel string guitar) one...but he makes a whole bunch of them. The Sax one I was exploring last night.
I figured out the volume thing.. just press harder or softer on the note on the neck.
MuLab- when I got this one I stopped searching for software. The midi setup was easier, and no latency.
It' keeping me busy for hours, and there is so much to learn.
One thing I want to figure out now, is how to make it switch from Rack to Rack very quickly.

You mean change the instrument you're targeting, so you can change what you're playing?
If you can change MIDI channel on the guitar, you can set up MuLab's channel to target mapping and switch by changing channel. (That's what I'd recommend: it's the "natural" MIDI way to do it.)

I might be able to do it with YouRock...the guitar..and the software.. I barely understand it. But right out of the box.. it is interesting. I love the whammy bar on the YouRock. Always in tune, and you can adjust it. You can get some wild sounds out of it!
