There is. Each project has a public web page and the track on the lounge page is published there, also. You're free to link to anyone's project page, AFAIK.braj wrote:Ah, so there is no public sharing option for posted songs then?

Actually here's some good news for you : patch can be shared, it just requires a specific action. Continuous patch sharing proved to create usability problem sometimes - also some plugins just don't deal with it. So here's the catch : one of the few new things you have to get used to with OS is the "refresh" button on the top of plugins UI. When you hit it, the state of the plugins (the patch) is committed to the doc and instantly send back to the other users.1.) Not all VST's, especially third party instruments recall. So pretty much like I said earlier; this is not a replacement for a professional DAW. Recalling becomes something like in the past with an analog console. If your using third party instruments, you have to start saving presets in a fashion that remind you what preset went with what channel. I had a session with 6 synths in it and it was already a pain in the butt, then try coordinating that with all the contributors invited to your session. Fat chance. Someone joined in, and owns the same synths, and I had to email him the presets so he could recall it. And if he made any tweaks to the patch while I wasn't there, he had to email me the changed patches. YIKES.
Samples, different stuff. Auto sharing samples would be technically heavy but on the top of that, it would pose license issues because you can own kontakt but not the specific sample bank your mate is sharing with you. Which mean it has to be user based : OS can't know the state of who has what right to use what samples, you do. So that responsibility comes to you =)
2.) & 3.)
are on the list.
If OS servers are down, that's sure is a severe issue. That being said it's maybe a bit early to judge they will ever be ... post BETA. Because now is actually the time to set up the OS servers =).4.) The offline thing is a biggie
That's for the server side, now for the user side connection issue : your ISP is down, you move your laptop, etc. Well, if OS becomes a professional tool, it would be a professional distant collaboration music tool. So yes, basically, a working connexion on user side is mandatory. Same goes for electricity : every professional DAW needs it
Also allowing offline mode would pose sever issues with conflicting versions. In a way it saves the project integrity this way, which also is important for all users, included professionals. That being said there sure are some cons, and I am pretty sure the ohm brains (which I am not working with anymore so I am no official voice here) are still discussing what could be done.

Also
Well, let's say you go to a public studio and jams with unknown people then discover a riff invented by you or a take from you reused later. That's exactly the same issue going on. Now does that happen a lot ? Not really. Of course OS will give a bigger incentive to stealing data because it will makes it easier. But still, that will requires a deliberate intent on stealing. OTOH the good thing is that OS provides some traceability which may help keeping people responsible. I don't think it works like this yet but if OS register every audio/midi export the same ways it does register what project was cloned from what other, every steal would have fingerprints everywhere.Pretty sure in the Terms of agreement Ohm Force strictly says, "we provide the service, you deal with copyrights." That, can get super messy. If your not putting food on the table with music and could care less; great. If you do make a living, or have any real ambitions to do so with music; careful buddy!

Online only all the time and the servers are getting slamed, hmmm.
A minor scale is a major scale starting 3 half steps down from the major and visa versa. Any Chord has as many versions as it has notes.

... during the beta. Which point is to deal with server load. I'd say it's pretty much legitimate and to be expected, don't you think ?Throbert wrote:Online only all the time and the servers are getting slamed, hmmm.
BTW right now it's working great

do aux sends send stereo or mono(left)? Im using valhalla room on an aux track and i only hear the reverb in my left ear (using headphones...
)
Does dual screen toggle work yet? it seem to do exactly what full screen does.
I LOVE the graphics!

I am still pretty intrigued by it, and by the community aspect especially.
But, I sort of figured that that loooooong stretch of radio silence since the first announcement about this had been used to sort out the offline mode....
I am less than half as interested if the app does not even launch without a web connection.
edit:
The concept of mixing for hire, via OhmStudio came up...
Are there any TOS that address that yet?
(I am blocked from the site at work atm.
)
Ohmies should consider that stuff like that might be going on.

That is immediately where my mind went when they first announced this thing, and when they described the community as sort of a 'wanted ad' kind of place.Guenon wrote:Personally I find this having a lot of potential as a final mixing stage collaborative platform.

Ohm Studio is just a helping tool for collab, as is a phone, a multitrack recorder, a file sharing service. Just because it's hugely better at this doesn't change the fact that agreement regarding creation is none of its business. Same rules as ever applies, even if it's in a new contextAre there any TOS that address that yet?

Hi,
You can find our terms of use here:
http://www.ohmstudio.com/doc/terms (http://www.ohmstudio.com/doc/terms)
Roughly put, it says that Ohm Studio doesn't claim ownership on your music, nor does it manage it.
That's the way things are for the moment. By the way, these terms may change over time following massive user demand on particular topics.
Just curious to know... could you please explain what you would like Ohm Studio to do regarding ""that""?
Thanks!

Wonder whether my advice worth a penny? Check my music at Soundcloud and decide for yourself.

Well I hope Im not exposing anyones business model.
Maybe giving some of you guys an idea...
I dont mean ownership of the music at all.
Im thinking of a scenario like.. a person/company/website that sells a mixing service, that happens to heavily utilize the collaborative possibilities of OhmStudio.
Furthermore, lets say that company had an account on the OhmStudio community site, that was linked with their site, and their FaceBook, etc, and that eventually 80% of their customers, and 100% of their work, was being had via OhmStudio and its community.
(It would not be all about the collab aspect. It would mostly be about the community, and the connectivity and the delivery. People would feel like they were 'in the studio with their ME'...)
I have no real personal feeling towards it I guess. If OhmStudio gets solid enough to where the above scenario is even possible, then OhmStudio will be a great thing, regardless.
I thought maybe the Ohmies lawyers might of hit it with a clause.
