I am kind of new to production, been working on a new project and found out
that I am missing a vital component, I prefer the more original approach to production and would like to know what options are there for a VST instrument that produces drum sounds via synthesis, currently I am looking for a hi hat sound that I have in mind that I couldn't find in the few instruments that I have. it's hard to find with so many |

Drumaxx, Microtonic (ipod touch does not have the micro symbol). Those are sweet. ---- Play it by ear |

If you've gota a spare Mac, the overlooked and recently improved DrumSpillage. |

Yeah and if anyone wants to buy it from me, I'll sell it for 15 bucks. Good sound but I can't stand the GUI. PM if interested. I guess there's an update to v2 coming soon. |

a) You need Microtonic. Deceptively simple but awesome!
b) You don't need a dedicated drum synth, any synth can do drum synthesis, some better than others, obviously. c) Forget that, get Tremor, it's the shitz. d) Tremor is a cpu hog, what you need is Punch. Covers samples and synthesis. e) Punch is a bit lame, not very punchy at all IMO. f) X0X FTW! Get with the D16 crew. g) ADM is a good alternative to D16 stuff. h) Tattoo by Audio Damage has that covered. i) Tattoo is very limited, never got into it that much. I prefer Microtonic. j) Has anyone mentioned Extreme DS? It's awesome for acoustic-type sounds. Just thought I'd sum up the coming thread for you. My personal opinion: Tremor, if your cpu can handle it. It's got a drawback, though: the factory presets aren't very good, you need to get in there and do your own stuff. You'll be amazed at the sounds this thing can cover. Great sequencer, as well. |

I would say Punch too, but check out the free Drumatic or ErsDrums first. |

Definitely check DrumSpillage and MiniSpillage 2 by AudioSpillage :
- DS is an amazing drum/percussion synthesizer with 13 different synthesis engines. Since its last update you can also use it as a more traditional synthesizer. This update has significant GUI/workflow improvements. - MS2 has less synthesis options but you can mix samples and synthesis (damn fun !) and has a built-in sequencer. Highly recommended. |

Machfive v3 has multiple realtime percussion synth modules (kickdrum, snare, clap and more), which can be multilayered as much as you wish and even use in combination with samples.
(Video below is too basic and doesn't even scratch the surface but you should get the idea) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4RGpIyoMZ3I&feature=youtube_g data_player ---- Cowbells! Last edited by dalor on Sat Jun 09, 2012 6:27 am; edited 2 times in total |

I'm quite happy with Optik:
http://www.psychicmodulation.com/Optik.html With the send out of each drum sounds send to different FX channels the possibilities are endless! |
