Hi, I'm a new member. I'm inexperienced with using AAF files to work between DAW and video editing systems. I have experience with both, but have never had to go back and forth between the 2 types of systems.
I'm working on a documentary film and I'm not sure how to pass project/sequence files between video and audio systems MULTIPLE times in both directions. Can someone please break it down in simple terms for me? I would sooo totally appreciate help. The video editor has exported AAF files from FCP for me and I'm opening the files in Nuendo 5. I've finished a bunch of the sequences but now the director has requested the editor make changes to some of the sequences. How can I work with the changed content without having to start from scratch? I exported my Nuendo projects as AAF and gave the files to the editor but when the editor exports the revised file as AAF to return to me, none of my original effects/filters are in the file when I bring it back into Nuendo. All the tracks are there and the clips appear to be in their correct positions, but the individual tracks have no effects on them anymore. Like I said, I have no experience with passing these files back and forth multiple times, only experience has been with opening the AAF files from the editor and working on the files and exporting a mixed down AIF or WAV. There has never been a need for me to hand the "project" files back, because there has never been a situation that involved changes to the video after my audio work has been completed. I wish the sequences would have been "locked" when the director said they were locked. Having to deal with the changes is giving me a hard time. Please take pity on me and help me understand the correct process and workflow. LOL. It must be possible, right? I'm in big big trouble if I can't figure this out ASAP. I'm unimaginably exhausted so please pardon typos and other errors. |

Know nothing about AAF - so I look up a wiki:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Authoring_Format There are essence data and meta data. I guess the effects you provide may be meta data and is filtered out or something. Might give a hint to look up what either system supports for export and import. And there might be options when doing it - what to enclose in the operation. Just guessing from a short reading... |

aaf files do not contain plugin info. I would stick to bouncing audio with the effects in place for aaf files. I believe you will get audio files along with volume and panning and that's it. ---- Don't F**K with Mr. Zero. |
