Hey,
Tried to achieve the same sound as this filtersweep/subbass drop ( http://youtu.be/Ixa0ELkHSS0?t=2m55s @ 2.58 seconds , right before the drop ). Tried everything such a really low pure sinewave (with only sub frequencies), tried to have a filter from lets say Filterfreak, closing it really fast, almost like a steep curve, with a little touch of resonance. Well, in fact, I've tried alot of things, but I cannot seem to achieve this effect. Any tips on how to sound similar? To me, it sounds like it's a deep bass note that has a filter that is closing really fast on it.. but that obviously didn't work. Answers are really appreciated! thanks. ---- MacBook Pro 15" | 2 GHz Intel Core i7 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 | 240GB OCZ Vertex 3 SSD + 500GB Toshiba internal HDD | AMD RAdeon HD 6490M 256MB | Apogee Duet | Ableton Live 9 | MAC OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.3 |

Hint: try layering the bass with (LP filtered) synth tom. ---- Wonder whether my advice worth a penny? Check my music at Soundcloud and decide for yourself. re:vibe and Loki Fuego @ Soundcloud |

Super easily to do it you have Melodyne.
Just take a impact sample that sounds clean enough to stretch it, and then just stretch it out in time until you have the length you wish. |

Sorry have no idea in what condition I wrote that.
What I was trying to say is that I have found Melodyne to be a huge help to create this kind of subdrop effect sample. I have made a couple of different ones, but everyone is made in the same way I have just changed up the samples for each one of them. 1. Grab a impact sample, a kick with a long tail or an exported sine wave note. Everything will do really. 2. Load it into Melodyne 3. Analyze the sample and then stretch it out to the desired length. Voila you have super nice subdrop sample. EDIT: of course you need to process the sound with EQs etc, but this will help you determain the length of it. Can include one of my samples when i get home from work. |

I'm not used of using melodyne really.. how do I stretch it out? is there any other ways of achieving this? it's the filter closing I'm after, the actual subdrop is very easy to achieve through massive or any other synth.. just by making the pitch drop with a small envelope... but the actual filter is what I'm looking for here! cheersalot ---- MacBook Pro 15" | 2 GHz Intel Core i7 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 | 240GB OCZ Vertex 3 SSD + 500GB Toshiba internal HDD | AMD RAdeon HD 6490M 256MB | Apogee Duet | Ableton Live 9 | MAC OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.3 |

This is going to sound silly but its a sample of a synthetic tom and ive got lots of them in my Guru sound Bank. I think its from a drum synth or MS20 or electribe. In the sound bank there is a ton of samples from ms 20's and others that have loads of drum samples, Ive used the sample out of the drop quite a few times, i think its described as an afro Tom sound, Its definitely a synthetic Tom Tom sound with the last bit filtered out really fast with a lo pass filter. Im sure if you check out some free analog drum synth samples or I am pretty sure the CM 505 would have this in its presets banks with the additional filters on board too. Here you go try this

Sounds like a heavily low passed bass guitar slide to me.
Sometimes it's that simple. |

11) Download Nord Lead 2 Drum Samples & FX - free sample pack look at percussion hit 07, snare 05 and Tom 05. You will get the idea as these samples are very close minus a bit of lo pass filtering. If you need to alter the pitch drop the hit into a sampler and pitch it up and down a few keys till you get what you are after. That being said the CM 505 can produce these kind of sounds all day long. Plus in the guru bank ive just listened to about 10-20 variations in the juno 1 folder labeled afro toms in Sebos collection so if you have that to hand your sorted. |

Tom 05 sounds exactly like it, but abit sharp, as you say, if I add the lowpass on it , then it's done.. but I'm still wondering how do I REPRODUCE this sound? does it really have to be a percussion hit? ---- MacBook Pro 15" | 2 GHz Intel Core i7 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 | 240GB OCZ Vertex 3 SSD + 500GB Toshiba internal HDD | AMD RAdeon HD 6490M 256MB | Apogee Duet | Ableton Live 9 | MAC OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.3 |
