I'm looking for something a little different than the regular synths- something more suitable and conducive to creating deep, strange, dark, FX and textures for techno production.

Not really satisfied with traditional subtractive-type soft synths for getting these types of sound and I was wondering if people had any recommendations for stuff that's really geared towards this in an interface that is a bit more organic where FX and stuff like this come more naturally.

Sorry if this topic has come up a lot search wasn't too helpful here.

NI Absynth and Camel Audio Alchemy come to mind. Reaktor does too, although I personally don't consider its interface(s) to be organic or natural.
Logic Pro | LUNA Pro | OB-X8 | Prophet 6 | OB-6 | Trigon 6 | Rev2 | TEO-5 | Pro 3 | SE-1X | Minitaur | Integra-7 | TR-1000 | Analog RYTM mk2 | Digitakt 2 | TD-3 MO | TD-3 | Maschine+

Yes, Absynth and Alchemy would fit that pretty well, even though they have subtractive elements. Something to consider as well for those types of sounds is that it all doesn't have to come from just a synth; some effects might help.

I'm with you on that. I've been using Alchemy alot lately combined with my own samples of recorded material. Alchemy is so deep you can make any sample sound organic and amazing...I feel like I'm only scratching the surface. Combine that with some MFM2 for the delay and you're in business! ;) Any other suggestions are welcome, of course.

Just finished messing around with this...WOW! Seriously impressed. Imported some of the samples I created back into Alchemy. Definitely worth the price of admission. I think I might have to pick this one up! Thx. :tu:

I do this with Alchemy and Granite as well. However another thing to do is to layer Alchemy and Granite together using the same source material (pan/modulate to taste).

Another tool in the toolbox that I use from time to time is Uhbik-G. Or (your choice of reverb) > (Uhbik-G).

(edit) Forget to mention Izotope's Iris.

Vertigo could be your favorite.
