Only real criteria is they must be 64 bit as to be fully compatible with 'the future'
A 'why' describing their uniqueness and/or value would be great.

Yeah I have Diva but actually was thinking about U-No-62 lately for my laptop, it is great though not quite Divadjshire wrote:TAL-U-No-62, though its only 64-bit as a Windows VST
Its a Juno 60 emulation that sounds amazing, what more do you need?

Zebralette. Top sound, good range, rock solid.
Still hold ZynAddSubFX as the best free synth but is not yet as a 64 bit version.

It's ironic......I bet 99.9% of the plugins that will be mentioned here won't benefit one bit from being 64 bit.......
I'm still clinging to my 32 bit system because everything works and I don't need extended memory. If and when they start to release plugins that are only 64 bit I'll have to consider modernizing.......

I need a new computer for the CPU and RAM, Trilian and Diva are kind of crippled by my current machine constraints, so once I switch I'll be on 64 bit. And sure some other plugins won't really benefit from the extra RAM or CPU but it will be a PITA to have to bridge them. So I made that a criteria for this thread, not to say a 32 bit plugin is bad just it has a leg in the past, so not really ideal for new 2012 machines.Teksonik wrote:It's ironic......I bet 99.9% of the plugins that will be mentioned here won't benefit one bit from being 64 bit.......

To be honest I am at plugin saturation and only am asking this out of curiosity because I like this stuff too much
Just you never know what is out there that you may be missing, plus someone else may be helped by the discussion.

None of the plugins will benefit from extra Ram unless they load large sample sets and none will use less CPU....it's just that you will have more of it to work with.....
The opposite side of the question would be what free 32 bit plugins will you lose by going 64 bit (if indeed it is a PITA to bridge them). I doubt we'll ever see a 64 bit Synth 1 for example....Ambience Reverb is another I'd miss......and so on.....
I suppose it's inevitable we'll all have to make the switch to 64 bit some day...I'm in no hurry. Until they release Mega Synth 9000 in 64 bit only then I'll have to start screaming like a Mac user.......What???? No 32 bit version????.......
