Hi, I am DJing at a mates wedding in a couple of weeks time. A lot of stuff is going to mixed on decks but i have also managed to barrrow an old lap top to play MP3s. Its an old laptop running windows EXP so i need mixing software thats both easy to use, ight on CPU and be able to read MP3s off an external drive. Dont need anything flashy like auto bpm as its the to bring non dance tunes to please all tastes.

Might try this one:

EDIT: I should note that I don't use this software, but I like to keep some links to cool freebies around in case anyone is looking for something. So I don't know if it's exactly what you need.

Wow nice find. Thanks a lot koolkeys :)

It looks great. Its more feature packed than i need for now but as its avalable on mac too it looks like it is worth useing on my main comp too for when i have to give the laptop back.

A couple of years ago I tried Mixxx and it wasn't very stable. I think you should have a look at NI Beatport Sync: http://www.native-instruments.com/index ... atportsync
Eventually something intelligent will appear written here. Watch this space.

mixxx is crashy here too; quad scratch seems ok for free, and hasn't crashed yet (i'm using it without the time-coded vinyl)

Jackson is pretty good.

Donwloaded beatpot and Mixxx. Cant install beatport due to some error. Got no idea how to use windows so thats out. Mixxx has crashed the laptop. Got the long wait for battery to run out as nothing is responding.

Thanks for other 2 links. Quad scratch may need more juice than the little lap top can handle especailly as it recomends ASIO drivers which isnt going to happen. But will try them tomorow when laptop is working again.

I think MJ Studio by d-lusion is what you're looking for your old laptop, it's light on the cpu, do basic mix functions & it's completly free:

Resurrecting an old thread, but I have the same question.

I need something that lets me use two soundcards (one for headphones, one for speakers), without requiring ASIO.

Mixxx seems to be most up to date of the ones mentioned. Is it stable nowadays? Anything better?

Mixxx has improved a lot lately. i've been using it without issues on a Lenovo netbook with a 1GHz Atom processor.

Mixxx looks nice.

Is there a way to just let the tracks on a playlist play regularly, as they would in any player? (AutoDJ adds crossfades, which is not what I'm looking for.)
Also, could I - while the playlist is playing - listen to other tracks on the headphones. It seems like to listen to a track I have to load it onto a deck.
