Are there any free Modular synthesis software programs out there that anyone could suggest that are really good? I have Windows Vista Dual core.

Sonigen Modular.
It's at beta stage but very usable. It will cost some money when it reaches ver. 1.0 though.

depends what level of 'modular' you're after.

So another answer might be pureData.

Well, I'm looking for something that's very modular, but not as modular as the Moog, or the ARP 2600, but just enough so I can see how many sounds I can make with what I can get. The modular synths have to be complicated enough so I can learn how they work the way they work, and learn why they work the way they work.

About pure synthesis, As you can choose the modules you use , it's you who decide the complexity of your patch..? for me one of the best to learn is the http://www.clavia.se/products/nordmodular/demo.htm

+1 - you can pretty much stop looking, IMO this is the best free modular you will find, it may well become the best modular you will find!
