Vocoder vs. Vocodex

hey guys i use fl studio and i wanted to know which in your opinion is better the vocoder or the vocodex to make weird sounds with the vocals. i kind of wanna play with it like skrillex plays with his vocals. not do the same thing but just get weird with it is what i mean

I think you want to try the IL GrossBeat. You can do weird pitch effects with it. Vocadex is more a straightforward vocoder. GB takes a little learning, though. The manual is really no help, but there's some great tutorial videos around.

Yeah, for pitch-shifting and glitching effects, Gross Beat, or simply chopping up the audio and transposing the pieces separately will get you closer to what you're looking for than a vocoder. However, adding a vocoder, THEN glitching sounds really nice too, and might be worth it to try.

+1 Vocadex plus weird efx like some in Guitar Rig is heaven. I'll give you a piece of advice, tho. If you get something you like - SAVE IT! Too many times I'll just be fooling around and come up with something that sounds incredible and later I can't reproduce it because I didn't save it. One of those happy accidents.
