Playing Mario Kart 64 with my little sister brings back so many childhood memories. Anyway, there is a sound that always caught my attention as a kid.

Now that i find myself working on songs, i've wondered how that specific sound is created & where it comes from. Maybe there is a plug-in/vst that can be used with Fl Studio, Pro Tools, or Logic.

Lol, below is a link to the video with all the Mario Kart Sound Effects.

* At 2:51 - 2:54 you can hear the sound right after the "boing."
* At 2:59 - 3:00 you can hear it for the last time.

Can anyone help me identify that sound? Or any similar sounding foundation that can be tweaked around to achieve that sound?

Well that is a cool one.
It sounds like a basic siney/squarey 'boop' note repeated, pitching up, and going through a simple short delay.
But, those sounds arent made with real "delay" or effects, so it must have been done with tricky sequencing right?

Tweakbench has VST meant to simulate the sounds these chips made. Might be worth checking out-

Hmm...Maybe this will help in indentifying the sound a little bit more.

* At 00:09 - 00:16 you can hear an arpeggio using a very similar instrument to the Mario Kart 'Boop' sound..

It's a very simple sound with delay and some arpeggio.

It does sound quite simple doesn't it. It's the arpeggio technique and delay that make it sound interesting. Any ideas on how to actually make that simple sound though?

To me it does sound like combination of quick note progression, tad of delay and hipass filter sweep..

Why not record it and study it closer. It is a simple sound. Also, you can use the file to slice some scwfs for latter use
